Last year I purchased and sent back the Mavic 3 in favor of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. It's been one of my favorites. Pound for pound it's an amazing drone. Picked up the Air 3 and after a few flights it's easily my favorite DJI drone yet. That smooth vertical ascent and descent is fantastic. OcuSync 4.0 is excellent. What a great drone, thanks for the videos on the Air 3.

Thank you for the extremely detaily explanation of the camera sensor, and WHY it can be better (or IS better, objectively). I've seen videos (and comments) just flat out saying "lol its a joke, its not a 48mp sensor, its 2x 12mp blended in post". Well, turns out the sensor is simply better. But to know that, you have to learn it instead of dismiss it because "number is lower". Also, i LOVE your LUT here 17:51 The slight pink hue on the highlights is brilliant.

Good coverage on the batteries. The Air 3 is not only a larger mAh size, but a 4-cell battery: Air 2S: 3700mAh 3S (11.1V) Air 3: 4200mAh 4S (14.8V) These are LiPo (lithium polymer) batteries which are highest performance, but you're right, they can swell (puff) for various reasons over time.

Phenomenal detailed review on the Air3 Ken! Your breakdown is accurate and pinpoints the top new features of the drone! The sensor size is a hot debate. But that stacked sensor technology is crazy! Now I already have the Mavic3 & mini3Pro i need to fill in the gap in the middle now lol But overall great upgrade if you have the older DJI drones or if you currently have the Air2S regardless of 1-inch sensor (I’ve owned the Air2S) Thanks!

Thank you for the best review of the Air 3's image sensors' capabilities that I've seen! I've seen it mentioned by others, sort of in passing, but you explained the reality of it, and the reason for it, quite well. It was a major hesitation for me to upgrade my Mini 3 Pro to the Air 3 because I was under the impression that it was just the same image sensor, though a pair of them 24 & 70mm... I came to the Mini 3 Pro a year ago, as my first drone, principally interested in still images (vs video) to expand on decades of pro nature photography. The Mavic 3 Pro was just too far outside of my retirement budget so started with the Mini. With extensive experience processing RAW high-resolution (Sony) full frame files, I found it doable (but quite difficult) to get acceptable results with the m3P's 48MP RAW files. It took a LOT of time and processing work (and a lot of frustration having to shoot manual exposure brackets, as the m3P's processor was too weak for AEB). The draw of that 70mm second camera finally coaxed me to give Air 3 a try and I'm SO glad I did! I was absolutely blown away by the significantly improved 48MP image quality with Air 3. The BSI Stacked sensor technology apparently has made all the difference, as It's an incredible image quality upgrade (I think every bit as good as the 1" Sony sensor, with double the resolution as Air 2s). I'm even getting corner to corner sharpness that I never got with the m3P. Couple that with the 70mm second camera and enough processing power to do bursts & 5-frame AEB, at half the price of Mavic 3 Pro. This is turning out to be way better of a purchase than I had anticipated!

I agree with the sensor technology to a point because in the end SIZE does matter or else you wouldn’t use the Mavic 3 Pro as your go to drone to make money. I can make the Argument that a one inch sensor with variable aperture will capture superior video and images than what the Air 3 can produce. Unfortunately, DJI didn’t give us that so Ill stick with my current which is the M3pro as well as the Air2s but awesome video 👏🏽🚁🎢💯

After just losing our air 2s I almost picked the air 3 but that sensor downgrade was enough to make me just say F it and get the mavic 3 classic for 1k from ebay and use the air 2s controller we already had. I like to record at night too much for a sensor downgrade. Maybe I would have changed my mind if I saw this video sooner. I'm willing to bet the air 3s has a 1 inch sensor though.😢🤣
@peacefulthrillseeker Жыл бұрын
@@JoshConnectMedia I would say just go for a refurbished Mavic 3 classic instead of the Air 3 you will not be disappointed one bit. Best image quality on the market with the 4/3 sensor you cant beat it and you dont need multiple cameras that’s more of a want in order to cut down on editing time 👍🏽

good luck trying to seamlessly swap between cameras when the fixed apertures are different? Are we supposed to spend time adding differing ND filters to both lenses to compensate, I don't think this is even possible the NDs are fixed for both lenses? So the footage from the zoom lens will be darker than the main camera and will need correcting, not as seamless as they make out

I'm still pretty content with my M2P. Yeah, it's old already (and I still remember how I waited for months for it to come out), but only the variable aperture is enough for me to keep using it. Yeah, the battery time is not great anymore, less than 20 minutes, and I guess Occusync 2 is old already, but I can't see myself replacing it. Nothing that appealing out there, maybe the Mini 3 pro for the size, and even that, only for travelling.

Awesome review as always Ken. The Air 3 is amazing, my only complaint is for almost $1600 they should have included a charging block. Imo this is unacceptable. The only charger I have at the moment is my fpv drone charger. I put my air 3 battery zone charge at around 5 p.m. and the first battery still wasn't fully charged at 3 a.m. 🤷 . I had to order an Anker 100w. Fast charge. I would have rather paid a little bit more money and had it included. 6:13 “The Air 3 still is a lot smaller than a Mavic 3” No, it isn’t a lot smaller. I compared the Mavic 3 and Air 3 side by side, they’re incredibly similar overall in size, yeah, the Air 3 is smaller than the Mavic 3, but not much smaller, if you were to look at those two drones flying in the exact same area together, the proportions would look the same in terms of size.
