All para units in the indian army are now SF units. 9th para is deployed in kashmir. 21st para is deployed in the north east. 5th para is a desert unit. 9 para is primarily a counter terror/counter insurgent unit which also deploy alongside the rashtriya rifles. These fuckers are crazy. They do cross borders raids in to enemy territory and survive in the mountains with no support for weeks. These guys are singularly responsible for breaking the kashmir insurgency. They all have to attend the mountain warfare school (the absolute worlds best high altitude warfare school) and train alongside navy seals and green berets and SAS. Theyre proper beasts. But since most of their missions are pretty much classified theres not much to know. And other interviews with paraSF guys the inference is that their missions are mostly kill missions. Jai hind!

I was never in the uksf, but during my time in the paras, one of my mates from sandhurst joined the sas as an officer, i get told that their ncos lead on the ground whilst officers are in a command centre. This is generally speaking on operations, so thats why in the uk, trooper rank and nco ranks is when fitness and training is paramount. There is obviously high standards for the commissioned officers but as i understand it theyre nowhere near as physically fit as non officers. Again, ive only heard this second hand so correcy me if im wrong

We dint have any special forces capability untill 1966..till then we had Airborne troops.. So the army wanted an commando strike group.. And also the army have to deal with the soldiers who are unable to adapt the regular army life.. A commando unit is the solution.. uk has sas, us has green berets and rangers..soviet has spetznaz, They sought uk and got trained by recon units.. Not enough.. Some went to russia to get trained by spetznaz.. Then they went after french gign.. Got trained.. Together they created a training module purely based on french gign and russian spetznaz.. The army say that an officer lead the men into battle.. Come what may, but the soldiers respect those officers who lead from the front.

It features real life soldiers and Officers......two of them were the ones whose qoutes you read at the end of this video. 2. NDA - The Standard Bearers. NDA is like The royal Military Academy, it trains boys and girls fresh out of high school to be officers in the Army, Navy and the Air Force. The documentary is from 2002 batch, a bit old but tells the reality of how a boy turns into a man in the NDA 3. IMA - The Making of A Warrior.......After NDA , 1 year at IMA is where the army cadets go before commissioning as a Lieutenant. Do watch them. If you can, please reply and tell if you can react to them on this channel. It will be wonderful to rewatch them with you. Please Reply if you read this( My fingers are hurting, LOL)

@Original Human. Don't know your name chief...using your KZbin handle. Sorry about the mess on your chanel's comments section being abused by some people. You will pick up two things from these interactions. 1. Indians are very passionate about their armed forces as they rightly should be. I make no apologies for that....I am happy that they are. 2. While most countries have been using SM for a while now, Indian military content is comparatively new. It's thanks to vets like Maj Jacob and a handful of others that the people of this country are learning about their armed forces, especially about SF units. Being passionate about their military people feel the need to flex how much they know. Unfortunately some use online sources because they are too lazy to do anything else. And yes the irony is not lost on me, lazy people being passionate about special forces. These wikipedia warriors as I like to call them love commenting. I don't have the time to check everything out there so once in a while I open YT and check out what my feed suggests, your video came up and I saw a couple of dubious comments. I should've let them be, but being a considerate person I tried to right a couple of wrongs. And you can see some people getting more than just hot under the collar. I hope it doesn't hurt your work. I don't know much about how YT works. Just for your information and for others who might be interested in a little more than what wiki says - Most people don't know the difference between commando and SF. You are a commando yourself, but you don't claim to be part of the SBS which is indeed SF. Is there a distinction between commando and SF? I don't know what your thoughts are but in India it's quite clear. I'll give you am example: Every infantry officer does a commando course. They are not all SF obviously. Parachute Regiment units were better trained and were converted to commando units as a whole as were most parachute brigades/ regiments in other armies. Being airborne assault/.shock troops this was needed.. It was later realised that some needed to be a notch above those units. They trained with other SF units from around the world including the SAS.. These units came to be called Special Forces and they formed the nucleus of our SF units today. Conversation from para commando to para sf didn't happen just like that. This has sparked a row....like I said I hope it doesn't hurt you in the bargain. The rest as they say is history. Cheers!
