I once have seen a Muay Thai fight where one guy gave the other a low kick on the thigh and his own lower leg snapped. This was even painful just to watch.

the competitions exist, right because there are parts of the body which can be trained to be resisting. This is why traditional arts never try to strike in a conventional way and with power, conventional targets. I thought everybody knew that.

In the Spike Milligan COMEDY series in the 1980s Q they had boxer ALAN MINTER (who had just lost to HAGLER) hit Spike Milligan repeatedly in the face knocking him to the canvas every single time he did it... But TODAY in 2024 it seems that REAL 'martial artists' are actually GREEN LIGHTING this barmy practice as a LEGITIMATE enterprise 🤨🥴🙄

Very good lesson and good points,..to me kicking in the thigh muscle is a waste of energy .. when I took TKD..back in the day I would question that kick ..I would say this isn't going to affect a 200 pound guy or really stop him .. through the years I found the cause of my ignorance .. especially when I started training in JKD and changed my whole perspective..

Hi, Thomas! I agree with you. BUT, there's one guy in UFC that uses the oblique and side kick on the opponent's knees in the whole fight: Jon Jones. And no one has 3 balls to suspend him, even the judge inside the octogon adverts him. There's a compilation video of him landing these kicks. JKD seems to be the only martial art that gives you any chance against any guy, a fighter, a bodybuilder, a taller guy

So well said about the thigh kicks in the beginning! There is a living prove thigh kicks are overrated, and his name is Francois Johannes Botha. Botha, a former IBF heavyweight champion in boxing, who fought Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Wlaidmir Klitschko, Evander Holyfield and the German Axel Schulz, went into K-1 from 2002 to 2006. There he fought elite kickboxers who used muay thai kicks, like Jerome Le Banner, Remy Bonjasky, Peter Aerts, Akio "Musashi" Mori, Kaoklai, Cyril Abidi, Ray Sefo, and others. He took 100000 thigh kicks and wasnt seriously hurt by one of them, even if he was never kicked to the thigh before. He was only knocked down or out by head kicks and head punches, but not once by a thigh kick.
@AlbertoPerez-zu6wg5 ай бұрын
100,000 that’s over exaggerated! Did you actually see or count how many times he got kicked that much by a Muay Thai round kick? And by the way I’ve seen fights and cross trained in Muay Thai and they do work against an opponent in the ring and outside of the ring.

There is a vast difference between MMA as taught and popularised by inosanto & co. for the purposes of entertainment for the masses aka UFC and all these idiotic arena P2P games, and SELF DEFENCE as taught by Lee, Jerry Poteet, some other of Lee's students also people like Tommy Carruthers etc. It took me 3 years of hard training in MMA in a 'JKD' gym (Inosanto based 'jkd') to find out that I wasn't learning JKD at all. Inosanto (and his hollywood/sports world funded agendas) has been the worst thing to happen to Lee's legacy imho.
