After 66 years of martial art and 53 (I started in 1971), I still get a great deal out of younger teachers, both, in and out of my lineages.

Try Tok Sao, instead. I was doing a demo with an MMA fighter: My single arm, against Two of his. He tried for several minutes to hit me, but I was easily able to deflect his attempts. At the end.. he tried a high to low combination: A High Right Hook, followed immediately by a low-line punch towards my Abdomen... I used my left arm, to perform a Tok Sau (upwards deflection). This easily nullified his Hook. I then took a single step backwards, while dropping my arm vertically downwards into the path of his incoming left. I used Jut Sao?.. the downwards forearm deflection. I added about 10% level of Fajin (explosive power / unified body mass energy).. into that Deflection... Not only did that easily deflect his punch... but it also almost shattered his bone. He was already grasping his wristbone area, with his other arms hand... clearly in pain. He was also completely confused... as he was expecting to see me Gasping for air, on the ground. He said "I had you! And then?". I spend the next few minutes taking him step by step, through what had just transpired, and explaining how these things worked. He then smiled wide, shook my hand, and called me a "God". He said he had never seen nor felt anything like that, in his entire life (obviously). I then said... "Imagine if I had been using Both arms, instead of one". He was suddenly stunned, realizing that I not only defeated him with one arm... but that I also injured him. I asked if he wanted to see more... and he agreed. We had 3 more 2 to 3 min rounds: Legs vs Legs (only kicking and kick defenses), Dual Arms vs Dual Arms (no kicks allowed), and a final round of "Anything Goes" (All limbs in Play). He was unable to get a single handstrike, not land a single kick.. as I had long since mastered both arm and leg fencing abilities. Meanwhile, I had lit him up, every round. The final round was so unfair, and completely overwhelming to him... that he stopped the fight, in only about 70 seconds. By this time, the pain from his injury, was too much for him to bear, so we called it a night. Our mutual friend reported back to me... that the dudes injury swelled up nearly double in size, before an hour had passed... and that he was complaining about how much pain he was in, for several days to follow. Something to note... is that we were doing this with our bare hands... as I didnt have any gear with me, at my friends house. We had previously agreed to keep any impacts, to being mild / medium... for safety sake. HOWEVER... because he was not used to being shut down so badly.. and especially by a single arm... he got really Embarrassed, and Angered... so for that final interaction, he amped up to full power, with actual intend to cause harm. This only multiplied the Impact potentials, of my mild Deflection.

All the best wishes and looking forward to your new video’s! Wrt to your talks - I agree people have to learn what works for their bodytypes and also what the main openers can be and how to handle those.

Español Inglés Greetings from Cuba, I am a Wing Chung practitioner, I belong to the family of proWes directed by Dai sifu Cemil Uylucku....I have been following your KZbin channel for quite some time since you are one of the best exponents of Wing Chung that I have seen,...and you really have a methodology and a great understanding of this wonderful martial art which is excellent when it comes to explaining your classes....and I wanted to ask you how effective Wing Chung is as self defense...and what is the most common mistake made by these Wing Chung practitioners who fight against other combat arts and usually end up losing...greetings from Cuba.

Can you please talk a little bit about how you generate your power in the strikes? You seem to disconnect from the body/legs at times? Any tips on power and speed as you show would be helpful... Thanks...

Love it. TLDR: Inside Pak Sau may work against a Wing Chun practicioner with a straight punch (or JKD with straight blast), but not against a boxer due to arm mechanics/fist position (pronations vs supination)
@satriopinangit189515 күн бұрын
Very interesting. Could you please describe what are pronation and supination ?
@infosecgeek15 күн бұрын
@satriopinangit1895 Sure. Basically, in a boxing cross or jab, the punch typically ends with pronation, meaning the palm rotates to face down or slightly inward, which aligns the knuckles for a strong impact and maximizes reach. In a Wing Chun straight punch, the punch is often delivered with less rotation or supination, where the palm may face sideways or slightly upward, keeping the wrist aligned and emphasizing speed and centerline efficiency over rotational power.

@infosecgeek. Thank you for your contribution. IMAO, there may be more than two ways in WC form to work for a inner Pak Sao against a cross and straight punch. 🙏
@bigm0e8915 күн бұрын
@satriopinangit1895 it's the position of the hand relative to the wrist. Supination is with the palm facing up like you're holding a bowl of "soup". Pronation involves the palm facing down
