Again brother helping me develop for a while, every video matters and guides me so much, even when I'm at gym and dojo MMA, they don't use jkd and shun other techniques but theirs, I always incorporate and Dont care for their doctrine

I quite like the side kick to stop an attacker in his advancing. It makes sense to intercept the opponents motion. Because I’ve notice a lot of styles don’t use this interception. But it makes sense to try and stop hit someone in there tracks. It’s the first line really in defense. Either than or hit them before they can move. Because if you allow an attacker to come forward swinging your given them more time and advantage to attack you and we all know it doesn’t take much to put some to sleep. Interception is really good stuff. I like that forward attack when someone is coming forward with stiff type jab and trying to crack there ligament in there knee.

A jkd fighter should be a counter specialist.

The way of moving is really similar to fencing. And Bruce also imitated the way of fencing attack because it's fast and safer for the attacker - there is less space for a counterattack. Thank You for the video. Good luck !

This is where I quit kyokushin semi contact. I did full contact before. I had to make a yoko geri (side kick). one higher band was saying I should lift my leg more. But I found this much to slow to attack it looks nice, but in reality it does not work, especially with high pressure

Do you run? Or sprint for jkd? What’s the preferred method of the 2?

Yes... Both...

Though shouldn't we usually move the back leg first when retreating so we can stay in the stance if we do it this way won't we be open for takedowns since our legs are in the same spot?
@ThomasMarxJKD Жыл бұрын
When you get attacked to the head with punches primarily yes, when you get attacked with kicks, than front leg first. As always, there are overlaps as well...

What’s the reason for not teaching rear leg kicks from Thai boxing in jkd? Is there a reason?
@ThomasMarxJKD11 ай бұрын
Directness and telegraphic motion. There are rear legs kicks, I have covered that in my videos though. But because the leg is further away from the target, its used not as often.

You don’t want to give any time for your opponent to work with. You want to shut him down fast and efficient. Do you incorporate weight training or isometrics into this method?
