Thank you for this video. In my opinion , I think the best way to avoid any attack by using JKD is to take step back because we don't know if the opponent is going to punch or kick us , then we can react just by using side-kick and the fight is finished, this is the simplicity of Real JKD. Thank you Thomas. 👍👍

*I agree about this in a real fight, but in sparring, if you have limited space, it's not always possible to keep moving back and you will be forced to go sideways. I found that evading to the opponent's right side is better if they're right handed since they need to make 2 moves to attack you, one to switch position and then to attack, so you can counter better.*

Good content as usual, basic simple movement to avoid punches strategically. One thing I like is that the footwork is designed to not have the practitioners feet to cross, moving right using the right foot and same with the left.

*Yeah, one thing that can be done in the day to day is to step like that when you want to move to the side, to get used to it so that you never cross your legs. It might seem weird but it's so good once it sticks to the muscle memory.*

@@MartialArtsMoves I have done the same with evasion and I found that you can do that faster then standing and blocking. Some people think blocking is faster, not necessarily.

@@SuperMaryu767 - Yeah, I agree, blocking could be handy sometimes to slightly push off the attacking arm while you try to move out of the way, if caught in close range.

The last point is super important. Every evasion is either paired with an attack at the same time, or it is a preparation for an immediate counter attack. Evading or blocking alone will get you nowhere, your attacks are the only thing that can end the fight in your favor.
