yeah.... "they don't believe in anything" but the deep irony of the story and film is that they all believed in some money inside a suitcase, and one of them even sacrificed own flesh for that idea, money idea, a sort of circumcision of faith leap into such money visions for the unfaithful, the detail of the also circumcised tip of the cowboy boot is just a deep surreal brilliance joke on such "believers/non believers" and the extremes they would go, also ironic she was the only female in the group to sacrifice her bits, and it had to be my fave 80's singer, Aimee Mann The layers of mockery to the whole of Western Society from the richest to the broke (in the head as of pocket, not that the rich are any less broken) are so many in-built jabs within each other, like Russian dolls, and it takes a cowboy delivering his revelations on these characters and being of sorts the anchor as counterbalance to all of them as Will Rogers once was for America's heavy weights of the Teddy Roosevelt's era of larger than life personalities.... but also as another character off its own saddle, within such an oddball Americana tale in film about the other sides of such American invention as Lalaland. Not to forget he isn't the stranger new in town really from some off place zanier heartland, cowboy ranches have always been AT HOME all over in LA before even any filming crews came around. All of these weirdos came only after, the Nihilists not the first or last. It's a wink to all coming in circle where you less expect it. Well on top of simply wanting a kid from a guy she knows would not want any responsibility raising him or her, the fact that this guy's last name is Lebowski was no doubt a big "Fuck you" to her father. The Big Lebowski dismissed him as a bum who will always lose. Yet said bum screwed his daughter and got her pregnant, which in turn would probably lower the allowance she gave him because she'd need that money to help raise her child. Putting him further in the doghouse.

Wait anybody notices the painting of a scissor on red background? It's like that scene where the dude is dreaming of those nihilists chasing him with huge scissors

He seems like he’s not listening but he grabs that parlance of our times line and drops it on Mr. Lebowski.

They didn't catch that coitus is a three-syllable word. That haunts me. Such profound attention to detail, and yet..

My favorite scene. When I turn 80 in thirty years I'm going to program my robotic health care aide to sound exactly like Maude. Or better yet, maybe I can program my Amazon Echo to sound and talk exactly like her---that wonderful high class blue blooded East Coast from the early 60's way of talking, that posh, Manhattan, almost British (but not quite) accent. So cosmopolitan.

jgfunk the dude says that, not Walter, Walter calls them clams at the landlords weird one man show which confirms mauds use of the laymen term of money as "bones or clams" lol

One question if Maude is a Lebowski and dude is a Lebowski doesnt that make it strange that they had a kid together?
