Right on Rep! Riding a board is ALWAYS the best way to know how a board will fit with your style. Stoked to hear you were able to try out that DFR41 and even more stoked that you went with the Maven, thats my preferred step up for new hills / hills I know will be at the top end of my comfort zone. Stop back by and let us know what you think once you get some time on that board.

Hey Hockey, stoked on the support man. Tons of great boards out there from a lot of really great people. Comet and Landyachtz to name a few. Thanks for considering our stuff along side theirs. Thats an accomplishment as far as I am concerned. As far as the deck, I always like to see riders expand their quiver as opposed to duplicate / replace decks. Since you have a double drop switchblade, maybe look at a topmount like the Arbiter 36 or Arbiter 36 KT?

Hey! I generally recommend a Pintail for someone just starting out. They come in four different sizes depending on your size. I started out with the Pintail 43 because I'm pretty tall, and it allowed me to ride with a wide stance that I need. These boards are easy to learn on because they are low and stable, and they are meant for cruising and carving. Since you're a beginner, start with the standard set up and get some upgrades once you progress. -Lindsay

Hey Tomas, will try to help for sure. For flatland riding with no tricks the first thing I always recommend is Original trucks. There is plenty of things they are NOT good at, but flatland carving is where they are hard to beat. To go with those I would take a strong look at the Pintail 40 which has a drop slot made for the Original S8 trucks specifically and is one of my favorite carvers (even since my girlfriend got one, learned on it and left it in my car for a year haha)

We love bolivia! One of our favorite members of the staff is a Bolivian native, but YES we do ship to Bolivia. Usually shipping takes less than 5 days and costs $60USD but the main thing to remember is that taxes that your government charges are not included (and change per country). Generally you will have to pay at least sales tax / VAT on goods being imported (7 to 20% depending on your location). Should still be competitive but just something to keep in mind so its not a surprise.

Hey Rally! Right you are. Pretty nuts really. We doubled production capacity on that board between last fall and this spring and still couldnt keep up. We are pressing more as we speak but just coudn't keep em rolling fast enough. Should be done with more next week or the week after.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
That would be the wood brick shape that has been in development here at Original since last fall. Should be finishing with production in the near future and hopefully hitting the market in the near future.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hah, yeah that was me. A couple times doesn't quite cover the misses (for those who were there lol) but eventually made it stick. Yep thats the Baffle, couple changes from that to production: wider overall deck, tweaked the concave a little and modified the flushmounting slot. I am still riding that exact board though, havent moved to a production version since its not dead yet haha
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Apex 37 DoubleConcave, came out earlier this year. Super fun board if you are going to add some tricks in with your cruising carving and sliding.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Yessir, the Baffle is a 9ply symmetrical brick with extra attention paid to the wheel wells and the flairs they are cut out of. Stoked to see what people think of this, also have a very different fiberglass brick on the way, though maybe two to four weeks behind this one.

Check out the Freeride series! Depending on your height, i personally like the Drop 41 for cruising and sliding. It's nice and stable for cruising, and the lowness and deep concave allow you to slide super easily. -Lindsay
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a really solid option. At 5'2 even with a HUGE stance you are going to have plenty of room. I have a massive jibber stance when snowboarding and I carry that over to my longboarding / downhill, even then I don't feel constrained by the Drop Freeride 41 and I am 5'11. I think you will like it a lot : )
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Pink, drops don't actually reduce turning its just that most drops weren't design with carving in mind. Thats one of the things that makes the Apex a little different. It came from a carving background and integrated that with pure freestyle performance, while the drop picks up the slack and adds some really awesome slide initiation. It really is a unique with the clearance to handle a ton of truck lean and huge carving wheels if thats your deal. Caliber 50s + low duro Riptides fo sho.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
The Apex 40 AV Rocker would be a great deck for doing tricks, and also just cruising/carving around. The board has kicktails and rocker to make freestyle easy, and it's a durable deck that will last when stomping hard landings. -Lindsay
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
No doubt. There is always a possibility to mod any board if you ask me. So long as you ride smallish wheels top mounted I have seen freeride 41s drilled in several inches tighter on the wb. Of course it's choose your own adventure and at your own risk BUT fun for sure.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Danny, Stoked man, could you tell us a little bit more about what you would like to do once you learn the basics? Understanding where you would like to go down the road as you improve is a big part of getting you on a board that you will be happy with now, and stay stoked on as you improve as a rider. Thanks for the good word!

Heck yeah, what do you think we've been working on all spring. You can see three, different, brand new topmount protos in this video if you watch carefully.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
That is one of the new brick protos (the wood version in this case). The Arbiter KT makes a couple of fly by appearances as does the Apex 37 DiamondDrop.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Antonis, Your english is very good, no worries. For freestyle and tricks my personal favorite is the Apex 40 DiamondDrop ($229). Of course if you aren't doing much freestyle but primarily sliding / freeride a better choice might be the Baffle 37 ($119), or even the Arbiter 36 KT ($109) (assuming you do want those kicktails). Each of those boards has a specific advantage, the Baffle would be most suited to fast riding, the Arbiter in the middle and the Apex to tricks (imo of course)

@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Lots of different Comets at the event, as you might imagine. When I talked to Liam he was on his Pro Model: the Morgan but I saw him on a Shred for a couple of runs I think. Jensen was rocking what I assume was a Shred for most of the jam and I saw a couple of takeovers, an fsm or two and a bunch of grease sharks / hammers. Given that Jason and the crew at Comet were throwing the Jam I assume practically everything got a little bit of air time : )
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey TN, Its always a good thing to try to match your equipment to the people you are going to be riding with and the terrain you see yourself tackling. That pintail you have is probably a whole lot of fun to carve around but I imagine your brother is probably not making quite so many turns leading him to go faster. A lot of us have multiple boards, or multiple sets of trucks for this reason. For a more stable setup, a set of Bears / Calibers or even a whole new setup would help the most.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Flip, Should be out by next week so I would think you could easily get a hold of one while you are in the states next month. Remember that we aren't leveraging the $100 for customs or the $60 for shipping. Also keep in mind that the prices in Europe reflect these costs. Hence most longboards being priced roughly equal in Euro to what their prices are here in USD. It is unfortunately expensive to get things into the EU regardless of how you do it.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Alec, you could certainly go with the Apex 40 at your height / weight. I suppose it is really personal preference as to which Apex 40 you will enjoy. Personally I ride the DiamondDrop the most, I like the dropped deck (feels to me like it helps when pushing, and also with slide initiation). Although we didn't really design it with freestyle in mind (sliding was first and foremost) I actuall prefer it for freestyle as well over the other two. I think Bish would argue that, but just imo.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you are headed the right direction on the Apexes (imo). Anytime I hear serious freestyle freeride (which puts a hurt on any board) the first thing I nudge people toward is the Apex line. If you aren't thrashing your board day in and day out, they might not be worth it, but if you are really hitting kickers and going for bigger tricks, those boards are going to last a lot longer. Plus they have some insane pop. Id go Apex 37 for you as a mid sized rider at 5'8. Sounds like fun!
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Ewan, the S6 trucks are really only good for PURE flatland or very small hills. If you are getting into any sort of sliding beyond some surf style slashes I would think about maybe rocking a set of really loose Caliber 50s or something like that. I don't know if S8s are in stock right now but if they are those would be a much better option for your ride description to be sure (though obviously not suited for downhill).
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
The wood brick is in production at the moment. No idea on the release, the fiberglass version should be first followed by the KT Arbiter.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hmm, well you can certainly do it, a lot just depends on what board and trucks you have. Its all about the combination. I taught my lady friend her first slides on pink ZigZags on a Pintail 40, if she can slide that, odds are good that you can probably slide whatever you have on your deck. How you go about initiating has a lot to do with the first part of learning.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Not sure about this one. There is the potential for the AVrocker to change this fall, so depending on how the testing goes for the Apex 37 version we may hold this one. The DiamondDrop 37 is about to go up, I suppose its just a matter of time before we really get into that issue.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Havent tried it but I am sure its a unique ride, seeing as its all about mounting angle, and that its coming from Tom and the crew that developed the Evo, I assume it works very well : )
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
Hey Parth, Well as far as your size and the type of riding you are doing the Apex 40 sounds like a reasonably good choice. ASSUMING that you plan on hammering the deck hard with freestyle / tricks. That's really what the Apex was reinforced / designed to do, and that is really where it is unique in the industry. If you aren't destroying decks in freestyle, you could go with something less sophisticated / expensive like the Drop Freeride 41 ($109 / deck) and love it.

Hey JD, The Apex 40 is a Lotta board for to carry just for carving no doubt about it. How small are you thinking? Personally I always keep a smaller carving option handy since a lot of times I am on hills... But when I'm not I want to whip out a board that just flows as far as carves are concerned, since my car is pretty small I carry a derringer 28 for that purpose. That said you could also look at the pintail 40 or even the apex 37 classic. See what you think!

@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
hey DocOc, we can probably help you out there. Are you thinking of mainly carving / cruising? If you are I think the Pintail 46 is one of the most unique BIG board rides on the market (seems like you want a bigger deck). Yes it carves like mad, yes it turns tight, and yes it is very long even though it does both those things. That isn't a combination you find any place else (primarily due to how the board works with the Original S10 trucks). I would check that out for sure.
@originalskateboards11 жыл бұрын
That happens sometimes, not very often but it happens haha If we made a totally indestructable skateboard I think there would be a lot more hubbub about it, that said I think the number of people who choose an Apex 40 to take their freestyle / trick beating also speaks to how well we did improving the construction for that purpose. How long have you had that deck? The thing to remember is that if you have an Apex, you have our full support behind you.

Apex 37 DoubleConcave was just released yesterday, DiamondDrop Apex 37 is next on the list followed by the Arbiter 36 KT. Thinking a week or so on the DiamondDrop?

We have the Arbiter KT which is a single kick, directional shape, directionally specific mold, downhill / fast freeride / sliding deck. Then we have two additional brickd shapes. One wood (and shorter) one fiberglas, slightly longer with micro kicks (thats the one I am looking forward to). Actually John Kreutter has been riding that deck in the wheelbase keep on tuckin tour, I think you can get a glimpse at how not to ride it over there now lol; watch?v=E2Gld18Rq_U

Hey Drake. Thanks for the good word dude. I am guessing you are probably pretty talented athletically so I'm not going to baby you. I know a lot of guys who play serious ball who really skip over the things us mere mortals have to deal with as far as balance and slide initiation, for that reason (if you feel up to it) I would really take a strong look at the Arbiter 36 or the new Arbiter KT when it comes out in the next two weeks. Alternately the Maven 35 or Drop Freeride 41 would work!

Learning how to slide can be pretty scary. Wear a helmet, pads, and I highly suggest getting some slide gloves. I learned how to do hands down slides first which are a bit easier because your center of gravity is lower so the slide initiation is a bit easier. Going down a smaller hill and having some speed will make the slide easier, but a bit scarier. Also, make sure you're riding with a set up that's geared towards sliding. -Lindsay

Well its actually a pretty big difference IMO. Two totally different boards depending on how big you are as a rider. How tall / heavy are you? Bigger guy or bigger hills go 40, smaller guy or smaller hills go 37 as a quick rule of thumb. Of course different people prefer different size decks so if u are predisposed to bigger or smaller I would act on that as well.
