Update! Since this has come up a few times in the comments I want to point out that the Orgins Creator has updated since I posted this video. Among the updates was a change to the filename you need to achieve the Reduced Health Power. Look for Conditioned_Attribute instead. Thank you to those who pointed this out in the comments! Hopefully this helps anyone who watches in future. Edit: origins:modify_attribute also works, it can be found further down in the list of power types. This works best for health based on a resource. For health updating I still recommend the conditioned attribute. Thanks to mathgeniuszach for the information.

I can't find it in the menu

In the power file click type and there should be a bold category called Regular Type, it looks like conditioned_attribute is the seventh item in that list.
@mathgeniuszach11 ай бұрын
It's okay to still use origins:modify_attribute, you just need to scroll down a bit more to find it. I do recommend using modify_attribute instead if you want to change the value of your health depending on a resource (useful if you want the max health to change over time or based on some other criteria). While modify_attribute is more veristile and powerful, origins:conditioned_attribute is more compatible with versions of the game and health updating.

Thanks to your tutorials i really got into making origins and i already made 2, both of which i am planning to use on my private minecraft server, those being katana master (basically vergil, requested by a friend), and cloudborn, which i actually posted on the official origins discord server! I got some great feedback and appearently it was mostly bad discord formating, the origin being very weak (which according to this video is good soooo...), and the fact that the descriptions for the powers are more ,,you have this which does this'' and not ,,your race is used to doing this thing, making it so you have this, which does this'' I am considering this a succes!

I am happy to hear you have gotten so involved! Both with the mod and with the community. I'm glad you got some feedback as well. To respond to it a little bit, weak origins can make the game more challenging, if you're into that sort of thing. That's why I like them. So long as your origin is something that you have fun with, I would make it however you like, regardless of what I or the discord server say. Thank you so much for the lovely comment, happy you have had such success!

Is there a way to use pehkui or other mods to make a power, like being 1 block tall?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
This is the second comment I've received about this, I may have to make a video on it! In the meantime, this should be what you're looking for: If you go on the Pekhui mod page on Curse forge you can see a list of commands at the bottom. Maybe try using the Action on Callback power to do an Entity Action Added execute command to both change the scale of height and then make it persist, /scale set and /scale persist respectively. To return to your original height use Entity Action Lost so that whenever you change origins it runs. You can use /scale reset to return height to its original value. You'll have to tinker with the commands in game to see what values you want for each but this should get you started.

How to define a pig class in a game? Detriments: Low health, but no food detriments, they even eat humans, and are anything but passive. They're comparable to the Hoglin, except Hoglin is more of a Boar. So instead of doing damage with the fist, they have to use their head. (different to the goat, no knockback attached) But no one would give up the ability to use tools just to use the head instead. Advantages: Fortunate could be possible, but rideable is not an advantage, it's a supporting ability. They play in mud not for fun, but to heal themselves from wounds and strengthen their skin with a protective layer of dirt, and because dirt doesn't stay on the skin for long, for example, as it dries, they have to renew it every few hours. Health and resistance boost from making and wearing a dirt armor piece. Going fast when hit isn't something only the pig can do, it's something every passive mob can do, but only the way Minecraft depicts these mobs. A horse will also run around, but do the same in RL and you might just lose some teeth instead. Super Power: Zombified Piglin Form. Duration: until they die, they also receive benefits and detriments of the Zombie.(minus the fortunate advantage and the low health detriment)
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your interpretation. I'm especially interested in the part about how dirt can strengthen their skin and help with wounds. You mention creating a dirt armor piece, which is certainly possible with datapacks, but how much armor would be reasonable? How much durability should it have, given that pigs have to renew their coats every few hours? Questions like these are important to make sure that what you create is not vastly overpowered. As a start, resistance 1 provides a 20% reduction to damage and a leather chestplate provides a 12% reduction. Together these effects are the equivalent of a diamond chestplate. This would likely throw off the balance of progression in game because it would be a very powerful effect for a very cheap cost. In this case 8 dirt = 8 diamonds. Is that fair? You would need to workshop it a bit, but I would be curious to see how these ideas would transfer to the game in a reasonable way! Advantage/Disadvantage may not be the most accurate terms. As you say, rideable is more of a utility effect. However, I find it useful to define powers by whether they provide a positive or negative effect to help make sure things remain balanced. For my purposes, a food detriment and a rideable power helped prop both sides and flesh out the themes I was playing with. Naturally, what makes an origin good or interesting is subjective and I would encourage you to make what interests you the most. It certainly sounds like you have many great ideas to go forward with.
@KittenKatja Жыл бұрын
@@wilder8521 The food detriment is based on the public image. Giving hunger every few minutes while performing tasks would suit the myth of gluttony. The dirt armor piece can't be worn and is more of a consumable that gives resistance. Armor was the first thing that came to my mind given that I didn't know how to convey to the player that the dirt has to be worn, but I'm now more onto the dirt apple, crafted like a golden apple but with dirt, and only gives pigs the effects. So everyone can craft them, but only pigs can benefit from them. The effects are Resistance 1 for 150 seconds, and Regeneration 1 for 15 seconds. To me, real life is the balance. If something is completely broken in the game, it could very well be broken in Real Life. What matters is realism, balance comes second. Also, balancing comes after the game is finished, not while making the features, otherwise you will be short on features, because the balance was based on the first implemented thing.

How would I make it so the origin can only breathe underwater? I can't find anything on breathing underwater or anything

You could do it a couple ways. If you want to code it yourself look at the power type action over time with the entity action gain air. How do I make it so with the press of a button, people around me get an effect?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
Hi there, easiest way to do this will be the Origins power called Active Self, which activates whenever you press an assigned button. You can use execute_command to run a minecraft command with the active self power whenever you press the button. If you want the effect to be applied to you and everything around you a command like this would suffice: /effect give @e[distance=0..2] minecraft:speed 2 2 (as an example to apply speed 3 for 2 seconds to every entity between 0 and 2 blocks of the player) However, if you want to make it more specific, such as targeting only players add this: /effect give @e[distance=0..2,type=minecraft:player] minecraft:speed 2 2. If you want to exclude yourself, make another file with the power Action on Callback. For entity action added provide the command /tag @s add Immune, then for entity action lost use execute command again with /tag @s remove Immune. With this done write the following command in the active self file: /effect give @e[distance=0..2,type=minecraft:player,tag=!Immune] minecraft:speed 2 2 The exclamation point is important, this makes it so the effect is given to everything except for that tag, which you have. Hopefully this helps!

With the power Starting Equipment, it gives you three boxes for the Item, Amount, and Tag. As for the mod not showing up, I intend to make a video soon to more thoroughly go through the installation process. If you have the default Origins mod working, the first step is to make sure that the names of your files match. Check that the name of the file under the Origins tab is the same as the one in origin_layers/origins:origin.

Hi. My game crashes whenever my character has max health attributes how can i fix it?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
Hello, if you haven't already I would recommend testing if Origins works by itself, then see which powers you can load without the game crashing. Normally when a power isn't working the game will still load, the power just won't be displayed. This leads me to believe that there is a more serious error, something the game can't process. As far as the max health goes it would have to be something like making the health negative or not a half-heart increment. I'd start there, let me know how it goes!

Unfortunately, without more information I am not certain I will be able to help you resolve this error. The standard list of things to check are whether Origins itself is working, if you have other mods installed which conflict with Origins and/or the custom origin, or if the custom origin itself has an error. Try running Origins on its own, then run the custom origin with no powers until you get that step working. Any further complications may be better helped by reaching out on the Origins Creator discord or, if you can provide me some more information, I can try to help as well.

For Fabric, you need the Fabric API and the Origins mod in the mod folder along with the file that you create. Before installing the data pack did you see if Origins itself was working? If so, you can use the Orb of Origin from the creative menu to see if your origin has been added to the list. If you can't select the standard origins, work on that first. Reloading won't bring up the selection menu for Origins again, so any changes will be hidden from you unless you are already that origin. For the spawnpoint you can choose the power modify_player_spawn. One of the options is structure, where you could input the id for a woodland mansion (I believe it is minecraft:mansion, you can test in game with the /locate command). I would recommend using conditioned_attribute, they should function similarly. Conditioned_attribute is close to the top of the list of powers in the Origins Creator. Hopefully you find success with this!

@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
You can use an action_on_callback to add yourself to a team. Then, you can use an action_over_time power to add all pillagers to your team.

Can you put this on a multiplayer server?
@wilder85217 ай бұрын
The default Origins mod can be put on a server, any new origins made with the Origins Creator can also be used if each player on the server has the file in their mods folder.

so this doesnt work on bedrock edition?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
I do not have experience with bedrock as of now. However, it looks like mods are not available to bedrock players except in the form of addons which don't use the same file types. I would say that custom origins do not work on bedrock. I did find this as a bedrock stand-in for the default mod: mcpedl.com/origins-addon/

Hey, i am creating a simple zombie origin and i managed the sun = burn thing but i cant find anything about how to make it so helmets protect from the sun, can you help me?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
I will assume that to make the sun burn you, you used the burn power with the condition exposed to sun. To make helmets protect you change the condition to "and" with two conditions. The first condition is exposed to sun. Make the second condition inverted with the condition equipped item and set the slot as the head. Inverting the condition will make it only work when the condition is not fulfilled (i.e., only when you do not have headgear).

I have never tried, but I assume that it would. When you download the file you can choose to download it as Fabric or Forge.

does anyobdy know how to code gills?
@wilder852110 ай бұрын
The origins creator lets you automatically use any power that exists in the default origins. If you want a power exactly like the Merling origin, you can move to the origin file and where you normally list the files you have made type origins:water_breathing. Hope that helps! I have not tested it, but if you prefer to try and code a new file manually try using action_over_time with the action gain_air. You can add the condition origins:submerged_in the fluid minecraft_water. This would let you breathe while on both land and while underwater.

@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
I have a video on Pehkui that I will be posting this Monday which should walk through this more clearly than I would be able to type here. In the meantime, I do not believe you would be able to make one active self file to shrink and return to normal size. You could use the delay function in the Origins Creator to have active self perform two commands with a set time interval between them.

Is there a way to make a custom origin classe?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
I haven't explored this too much, but I imagine you could. On curseforge the origins:classes mod has this in its description: "Custom classes: You can add your own classes by creating an origin, and then adding it to the layer at `data/origins-classes/origin_layers/class.json`." That seems like the best place to start!

how do I make a testing world?
@wilder8521 Жыл бұрын
That depends more on the needs of your origin, so long as you make the world in creative with cheats enabled it will be flexible enough. You may also want to stop the change of weather or time of day. That and many other changes can be found using the /gamerule command. A list of the rules you can change to true/false here: minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Commands/gamerule

The Origins Creator is a browser tool to help make additions to the Origins mod. You can download the files as datapacks or Fabric mod files. My personal preference is Fabric.
