Seems to be a widespread idea around the world that the earlier inhabitants of the land were giants. Maybe just stories passed down from when our ancestors actually had to deal with larger stronger creatures to survive?
@Darisiabgal757329 күн бұрын
Not only giants, but lived 10,000s of years. I think this the way ancient people explained the fog of history. For example the city that are along the Jordan, such as Hazor are toppled by great quakes, or as one author concludes, meteors. So people see a toppled city and people running terrified, a giant beast must have crawled from the earth or Giants were hurling stones in the night, stomping their feet causes walls to collapse. To deal with the large gaps in storied history they have kings that lived 10,000s of years. In Mesopotamia it’s even problematic because abuse the priesthood early had higher standing than the king, if a king in say Bad Tibera was organizing armies to do boundary maintenance, maybe Ur does not need a king, they just send their warriors to serve the Tiberan King.

Ancient art frequently depicts people’s relative stature through varying the size of the figures, important figures such as kings are often depicted much larger than their close subordinates, who may also be larger than those on their armies or other lower status figures. Given how much of history is an obvious broken telephone game, it wouldn’t surprise me if this contributed to the belief in giants and the association of great size with figures of great status.

No, God eradicated only those who intermixed with the fallen angels. Noah, his wife and sons, 8 in total of the "Adamic" souls were still fully human, they did not mix with angelic rebels. There were others who were still fully human, still had pure DNA, they were taken onboard the ark as well. God instructed Noah to take 2 of every flesh to keep them alive. This is how the various races made it through the flood and are still with us today. The whole plan the fallen angels had was to corrupt the "Adamic" bloodline as well as rid the earth of all the natural humans as God created them. They were attempting to stop the birth of Christ and populate the earth with their hybrid humans to rule over.

@@godsworduncensored5010very incorrect you should study the original Hebrew, not the churches biased translation. As the jews rightly know, jesus was not needed as there are many examples of people in the Tanakh achieving forgiveness with sincere repentance including a whole city of gentiles in the book of Jonah, Moses, king David. Christians dont understand sacrifices were for unintentional sins, guilt offering, a couple others but totally optional. And the most common, the passover which isn't even a sin offering. If you do choose to bring a sacrifice but can not afford a animal or two pigeons or turtle doves you can bring flour as is stated in leviticus. Why do you need jesus to human sacrifice himself to himself, when before Christianity you can be forgiven directly? What was the sacrifice anyways? If one sacrifices an animal and it comes back to life, what was lost. We all die, what did jesus sacrifice? He didnt get sent to hell for eternity but went back to being God. It doesn't seem that Christianity needs to actually make sense for people to believe it, just listen to the preacher man like most of them but no real study or knowledge about it all. Thats why Christians believe jesus is needed, dont know any better.

The Iliad is thought to have been written in about the 8th century BC, about 100 or so years before the Hebrew Bible was codified during and after the Babylonian captivity. The Iliad relates a tale set in the days before the Bronze Age collapse and is most likely a retelling of an ancient oral tradition, in much the same way the earlier parts of the Hebrew Bible were. Although the narrative here puts the possible incorporation of the Greek-like themes in the time of Persian rule, this was centuries before later Greek influence would have spread throughout the Middle East following Alexander the Great's conquest in the 4th century BC. However, there may be a much earlier interaction between the Canaanites/Israelites and Greek mythology. This would have been the invasion of the Sea Peoples, one of which is thought to be the origins of the Philistines, who likely came from Crete or elsewhere in the Aegean. Although depicted in the bible as enemies of the Israelites, it is also likely that there would have been trade and cultural exchange, during which the Israelites may have encountered these ancient Greek myths in their oral form.

Think about it: they talked you into believing that righteous men weren't righteous men since they were such terrible sinners that their sin served as the premise for the flood. The original, traditional, and majority view among the earliest Jewish and Christians commentators, starting in BC days, was the “Angel view” as I proved in my book, “On the Genesis 6 Affair’s Sons of God: Angels or Not?: A Survey of Early Jewish and Christian Commentaries Including Notes on Giants and the Nephilim.”

Moses being of an exceedingly restless disposition, instantly set off upon his next tour (Num. 21.21); and the Israelites sent messengers unto Sihon (sprouter = spring, from Sun, "to sprout forth "), king of the Amorites (from amar, to speak, or to bring forth to light- the spring months), asking permission to pass through his territory. Sihon objected, and the parties met at Jahaz (the trodden down place = place of intercalation). Israel was victorious, and possessed themselves of the land unto the Jabbok, even unto the children of Amnion (children-of-the- Sun, or descendants of incest, i.e., of Lot and his daughters). And Israel dwelt in Heshbon (closing-of-the-year), the city of Sihon, king of the Amorites. Hence, the proverb: " Woe to thee, Moab (wash-pot = end of winter); thou art undone, O people of Chemosh (depression = winter). Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon " (end of the year), where the Sun's south declination comes to nought, and the days and nights become of equal length. From Dibon (spring equinox) Moses sent to spy out Jaazer (whom the Ram helps = the first spring month). Having conquered Jaazer, " they turned and went up by the way of Bashan (Beth-shan = Sun's house- the constellation Leo, or mid-summer). Here they found OG/Gog (long-neck), one of the Anakim, king of Bashan (summer), whom they slew, and possessed his land.
