My understanding has been that the Nazis had a number of aims which included the destruction of the Jewish people but as the aims higher up the list (winning the war in the east) became increasingly unlikely they pivoted towards a goal they could achieve (destruction of the Jews).

Can anyone provide me with more ideas on what Functionalism Structuralism and Intentionalism is in regards to WW2

I don't agree with the functionalist argument because I cannot imagine anything like the Holocaust happening without not only the consent but the express direction of the head of state, i.e. Hitler. Given the considerable expense and resources necessary to implement the Holocaust, how could it have happened without Hitler's approval? The default treatment of the Jews, and the most logical one economically, would have been to exploit them as a labour resource, not to exterminate them in their millions.

There was never going to be a non-destructive means of the Jewish Question because war was an objective at the outset, resulting in a industrial war machine level of destruction on a population of diverse undesirables social, 'racial' and 'genetic'. Therefore even as the course of one, war, led to the functional adaptation of the other, the intentionalism was there even if amorphous and unstated at an earlier date. I call that the realistic approach.

Of course not mentioning the actions taken against those with a disability or psychological issues is a complete oversight in the rationale of destruction within the Nazi State machine. That occurred relatively swiftly after obtaining power.
