There is a major error in the video. While discussing Adelbert Waldron, a picture of Master Sergeant Gary Gordon is displayed, with Waldron's name displayed. MSG Gordon was a member of the U.S. Army's 1-SFOD-D, aka Delta. He and his partner SGT Randall Shugart were both killed in the battle of Mogadishu. This is the battle that the movie "Blackhawk Down" was based upon. They also didn't mention a shot he fired that was approximately 2,500 yards if I remember correctly. He and his spotter had a platoon pinned down and killed multiple enemies that day. Mr Hinson used a custom made 50 caliber 41-inch barrel Kentucky Long Rifle to target Union soldiers more than a half-mile away on land, transports, and gunboats along the Tennessee River and the Cumberland River, killing as many as a hundred. Mr Hinson also served as a guide for American hero Nathan Bedford Forrest in his assault on the Union supply center at Johnsonville, Tennessee in November 1864.

I have seen him pictured with both a standard iron sight rifle and with a scoped one. But I can attest to the fact that you can hit a person sized target easily with iron sights at 600 yards or more if you practice and are reasonably good with a rifle. When we are younger, our eyes work a lot better. I used a 1930 vintage Persian Mauser at our shooting range to plant a 12" group of 6 shots at 640 yards using the rifle's iron sights. A lot of the people at the range can not do any better with their scoped rifles. The other thing about iron sights is they don't fog up and your sight picture is huge allowing for fast accurate shots on multiple targets. Never underestimate iron sights when in the hands of a good rifleman.

Roza Shanina was a great sniper, very brave and very beautiful, but she was not close to being the most successful Soviet female sniper of WW2. That honor would go to Lyudmila Pavlichenko who was credited with 309 kills and is considered the most successful female sniper in history. There were 25 Soviet female snipers during WW2 with more kills than Roza. As for Fyodor Ohlopkov his 429 kills were ninth most among the Soviets. The #1 sniper of WW2 was Mihail Ilyich Surkov with 702 kills. There were 4 Soviets with more confirmed kills than the Finn, Simo Hayha. Vasily Zaitsev, the sniper the movie Enemy at the Gates was made about, is probably the most famous WW2 Soviet sniper, but his 242 kills place him far down the list for total kills.

There is a book written by russian historian Lyuba Vinogradova "Avenging Angels: Soviet Women Snipers on the Eastern Front, 1941-1945" Vinogradova has an interesting chapter on Lyudmila Pavlichenko. Lyudmila Pavlichenko, history’s deadliest female sniper, is considered to be a Soviet propaganda myth!!!. A few quotes from this remarkable book: "Pavlichenko, who "shot one hundred and eighty-seven fascists", was not even rewarded for fighting in Odessa battle. How is this possible? After all, not only were the soldiers medal awarded, but also the chefs, administrative staff, and even the artists of the front brigades to raise morale in the army. It is all the more strange that for ten killed or wounded enemies the Soviet sniper received a medal, twenty guaranteed the order. Seventy-five is a bricked hero of the Soviet Union. Therefore, until the end of 1941, Pavlichenko should be twice the Hero. Meanwhile, on her first order she had to wait for the fall of Sevastopol. She received it during convalescence in a New Russian hospital. The Golden Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union decorated her breast only after returning from across the ocean in 1943!!!" Inaccuracies and questions are much more but than You have to find it just by Yourself ...

Roza Shanina was a very fine shot. She made plenty of shots in a short period of time, before she got killed. That is why she is mentioned. Had she lasted out the war, she might have been the number 1 sniper of Russia!

Chris Kyle swore on the Bible that Hathcock was a better sniper than he was.
@ianmcnulty61943 ай бұрын
That wouldn't be difficult as Kyle made most of his heroic deeds up and how stupid can you be to take someone with a mental problem to a gun range and leave him with 2 loaded guns and walk off down range with his friend. It's not a very bright thing to do.

You have omitted one of the deadliest snipers of the First World War. Francis Pegahmagabow was born on March 9, 1891,on what is now the Shawanaga First Nation reserve in Nobel, Ontario, Canada. He was an Ojibwa native and served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Belgium and France. He was credited with 378 kills and 300 enemy captured. He was awarded the Military Medal with two bars. No history of great snipers is complete without including this exceptional marksman and scout.

Vasil Kvachantiradze (Georgian: ვასილ შალვას ძე კვაჭანტირაძე; January 1907 - February 9, 1950) was a top Soviet sniper during World War II. He entered Red Army service in 1941 and is credited with confirmed kills numbering at least 215 officers and soldiers of the German Wehrmacht during the Vitebsk-Orsha Offensive.[1][2] and around 534 confirmed kills total during Operation Bagration or during the war.

An error about the Finnish sniper Simo Häyhä. He was not hit by an explosive bullet. He was wounded in a counter attack to Soviet positions and was first thought dead when his comrades found him after the attack. His confirmed over 500 kills were from sniper shots alone. Besides that he is credited for several hundred unconfirmed kills in repelling or counter attacking the Soviets using a Suomi submachine gun.
