I knew a guy who paid $300 for a thorogood boot, which is only assembled in the US. That's not a huge price difference from most origin boots which are something like 90% US sourced and 100% US assembled.

@MichaelM-to4sg11 ай бұрын
I believe these are $400, correct? The video doesn’t show all details of boot, appears to have some nice features like a 270* Goodyear welt w/nailed heel, full veg tanned leather slip sole. What’s the leather upper, oiled & waxed bison? It’s not fully lined, the areas that are lined, such as the 1-piece vamp, appears to be lined in some black fabric? There’s no shank, steel or composite? The insole appears to be mostly foam? Might want to look at the Grant Stone boots, much finer materials and design details for same price. For $400 I’m demanding fully lined in calf skin. No synthetic materials. A full length 4-5mm leather insole. A shank, preferably steel but composite better than nothing. Cork or leather instead of foam as filler. Full leather insole and cork instead of foam should not add to costs. Fully lining the upper in a calf skin may add some material and labor costs but you’re already higher priced than Grant Stone or RedWing despite inferior materials so maybe your margins need to absorb any added costs. As is, $400 for that boot is a hard no. I’d rather spend that $$ on the superior Grant Stones or spend a bit more on a Nick’s, White’s, JK or Truman
@AKBRONCOSFAN00711 ай бұрын
I couldn’t agree more and that’s exactly what I done. I just placed an order for a pair of Nick’s Engineer boots last week. Now I’m going to have to wait until late spring or summer before I receive them but from everything I’ve read online and seen on KZbin the quality of the boots is worth the price paid and the time waiting for them to be made. I currently wear Thorogood moc toe boots which have been the best pair of work boots I’ve owned and I paid $250 for them 3 1/2 years ago.

why do you guys uses fiber board instead of leather for insoles?
@JinsKookieJams2 ай бұрын
*After watching various cobbler KZbin channels, they have said it's a cheaper material to use than leather insoles. It's to cut costs in order to make the boots more affordable for customers. Yes leather insoles are more durable for sure! So if someone wanted to, they can go to a cobbler and have one put in. That would require the cobble to take apart the rubber sole, midsole, and replace the fiberboard insole with a leather insole. Of course all this comes at a cost. So it's up to the customer if they'll want that done or not. Anywho, hope this helps 😊!*

Awesome job! I wish you all would take a Midwest approach to on pricing. I know you are on the east coast/west coast target for sales. The pricing is leaving out a huge chunk of the work wear labor force who are American hard working people. If you built a factory strategically in the Midwest, you could lower your cost in labor, infrastructure tax incentives and transportation.
@aggiewoodie11 ай бұрын
$350 is a very competitive price for US made natural leather boots. Other brands charge upwards of $900.
@aggiewoodie11 ай бұрын
Also, I get your point about east/west coast labor- if their factories were in LA or NYC their labor costs would be huge…but they’re in rural Maine and North Carolina. Cost of living there is reasonable and their labor costs are likely in line with places in the Midwest or South.
@elc779511 ай бұрын
@@aggiewoodie Maine has a corporate income tax, for a business this size, of almost 9%. Where you could move your business to the state of Missouri and have a 4% state corporate income tax. Plus they will reduce your cost on shipping since it is centrally located. Cost of living is similar and wages are more competitive. This is why businesses are moving to a centralized location like Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Strategically it will reduce the cost of their goods for the same quality.
