That’s so awesome as a father of 2 daughters myself. I was only able to get my oldest on the mats with me for a short while, as her true passion was competitive cheer, but man she was a sponge. Her flexibility and ability to retain body motions after only being shown once was amazing to watch as a father. And it was a great feeling to watch my mat brothers take her under their wing like a room full of uncles. She still reflects fondly of her time on the mats as well. I’ll probably never get her back in there seriously but possibly some Saturday open mats to keep her mind sharp. I can only imagine the happiness filling his heart as he was able to tell her story and promote her like that, absolutely awesome!

Love it! I returned to jiu-jitsu last year after more than a decade off for two reasons. After losing my father that year, I decided my health must be at its best, so that I'm there for my sons as long as possible. And the other reason, to become a purple belt by the time they're ready to start training, so I can pass along the details of each technique. It has been difficult (I'm not young anymore), yet very rewarding. Keep training!

All martial artist have their pros and cons and have their place in combat. My only issue with any form of grappling is that you make yourself extremely vulnerable. I'm talking about fighting, not a sport. As Bruce Lee basically put it, "You're going to try to put your hips up under me while I beat you down?" In addition, if facing multiple attackers and all you know is judo or jujitsu, the odds are even worse for you, especially if they are dead set on harming you and can't be intimidated.
