The called strikes/balls need to be challengeable. that system from tennis should be used because it's absurd to call 3 strikes that are clearly out of the box. For the close ones, those are true 50/50 calls and can go either way, but what happened to Cowser was Angel Hernandez level of ridiculousness.

Do we let Jackson play every game the rest of the season and have a Jordan Westburg situation repeat in 2025? Jordan got just slightly over 200 plate appearances last season which exceeds the 130 plate appearance rookie status mark. Otherwise he would obviously be the ROY of 2024, even with his injury I don’t see how you could give it to anyone else. Jackson would win the ROY without question. Honestly, he might have a shot to win it this year because he’s going to get better and better as the year goes on. I don’t think anyone realizes how great this kid is going to be, because I’m saying this and I know for sure that I have no clue how great he’s going to be because of how clear he’s made it that he’s going to change the game. We were hoping Jackson was going to be a mirror of Francisco Lindor, and he’s going to be Mike Trout level good. Which you know you can’t measure until it’s happening/happened. With the state of the team, I think we have to put him out there everyday, and hope he or Cowser win ROY this year and that Kjerstad or Mayo win it next year. What are we going to do about this defense situation with Kjerstad and Mayo? Only one of them can DH in the future. Hopefully Honeycutt will become the monster he looks like he’s going to become. Or Beavers comes out of nowhere and becomes a top prospect next year and develops in an All Star. We are signing Santander for sure, but Mullins and Mountcastle don’t look like they’re going to be Orioles forever. Mayo at first, not gonna lie, scares the s*** out of me. Maybe he will go crazy and do an insane amount of work defensively and become a great 1st baseman. You absolutely can do that, you can learn and train to become a top shelf first baseman. Then there’s the Basallo situation though. Basically Mayo has no choice but to become a great first baseman and Kjerstad, idk, Tony has to stay in Baltimore, but Kjerstad in RF is a lot more favorably. Idk. He’s got a good arm. He was a great outfielder in college robbing homers. Maybe they will just get past whatever’s happening now as rookies, idk usually rookies shine on defense while struggling offensively. Early on in their careers. But maybe this is just nerves and jitters and with experience they’ll become solid defensive players and Adley and Basallo can split Catcher and DH while Mayo and Kjerstad play first and LF. I can’t help but wonder if Tony would be more ideal in LF, or whatever side in the bigger side in whatever stadium they’re in. Bottom line, if Kjerstad and Mayo could play an above average defense while hitting to their capabilities along with Basallo… 1. Holliday 2B L 2. Adley C/DH S 3. Gunnar SS L 4. Santander RF S 5. Kjerstad LF L 6. Mayo 1B R 7. Basallo C/DH L 8. Westburg 3B R 9. Cowser CF L - this is under the assumption that Mayo, Kjerstad and Mayo all hit to their potential while Ads, Gunnar, Holliday, Tony, Cowser and Westburg do the same. In other words, 2-4 seasons from now. Remembering that at the minor league level Holliday has gotten the highest marks with Adley and Gunnar behind him, followed by a very close Westburg, Cowser, Kjerstad and Mayo, all of which were touted as .300+ career hitters aside from Mayo who has been touted as a 40+ HR/Season with Kjerstad being a 35+ .300 hitter, Cowser & Westburg as 20-25HR guys, and Basallo is shaping up to become the closest to Holliday’s marks and possibly surpass them. So he might wind up in the middle of that order. Either way, you wanna talk about a ridiculous offense? And if Mayo and Kjerstad get the defense going it’s a very good defensive club as well. Basallo has an absolutely incredible arm behind the plate and I doubt he will struggle to limit pass balls. With any luck he will be able to catch until Adley is retiring. But as long as Elias and company can manage the contracts, these guys should all play together for the next 10 years with the exception of Santander but if he plays to age 39 which is becoming more and more common especially if he DHs or pinch hits, he absolutely could be here in 10 years. But Honeycutt isn’t far off so there’s elite outfielders on the horizon regardless. It’s crazy to think about how stacked the lineup is, and the rotation if they sign Burnes with Bradish and Grayson, even Kremer and Wells. Then Felix in the bullpen. I mean this team is going to be other worldly good over the next 10-15 years as these kids become Veteran power houses. And so far Jackson looks like he’s going to be leading the charge.
