I have 4 15 inch hcca d4 in my car and they are the best sounding subs I have ever had , and I currently own a pair of JL audio 13 w 6 s in a manufacturer recommended box , that doesn’t hold a candle to the Orion hcca 15.4 s not only in low bass region but in mid to high punchy bass region where they are supposed to shine , Orion hcca 15.4 ( Daul four ohms coils )in a 4.05 cubic foot box turned to 36hz sounds incredible, on all music, I would recommend to anyone who wants to put in the work to build a custom box Orion has the best products.

don't assume he's just blaring 160db every time he's in the truck. he'd go deaf. most people who have the setups don't blare it unless some kid in a honda and 2 Power Acoustic 10's pulls up next to you or you're at a con. I myself listen to it low volume and sometimes comedy (pandora) or talk radio. after long plays of hard bass the headaches just won't go away no matter how many advil you pop.

Awesome, i like to see them tested at 1 ohm nominal ,great power,I would love to own some of these amps,but the price on these amps has almost tripled in the past year, that’s if you can even find them, when I first was interested in these they were selling for $1850, but not now,maybe the prices will come down after they get some back in stock

How do u adjust the voltage i been trying to figure out this for my build
@nbarnes97505 жыл бұрын
If you are referring to the supply voltage feeding the power inputs of the amp, you more than likely won't be able to. An alternators voltage output changes only slightly, while the amperage change is much more significant. Everything in the vehicle is designed to run on the 13.8 to 15.2 VOLTS DC created by the alternator, what changes is the amperage the alternator puts out...as load demands increase, the alternators internal regulator senses this and jacks up the amperage output...But the voltage change is minimal, maybe only .2 to .4 volts. This might get you a little more power from your amp, but in the overall scheme of things...it's really not much. You won't start to see a significant jump in output power until you start changing voltages by .8 to 2 volts DC, compared to 12.8 which is the minimum for a vehicle's charging system, as I said earlier...13.6...or 13.8 is much better. High performance SPL rigs usually try to use amps with unregulated power supplies and feed them with no less than 14 to 14.4 VOLTS to keep up with loads at 1 ohm or .5 ohm. In closing....get your voltage in the neighborhood of 14+ VOLTS, and you'll be solid. If you want to change the output of the amp, remote gain controls can do that. But again, you want the voltage supply to be rock solid, stable...constant. Hope this helped man....thanks for your time.

Only an idiot would not fuse their amplifier!
@tammyforbes21016 жыл бұрын
charlie francis what do you think what your playing has to do with it. Only time you don’t need a fuse is if your 100% positive you want short out the hot wire like on a bench test. You would be insane to hook up a huge 1/0 wire in your car and not fuse it that’s just asking to burn your car to the ground and or fry your amp. It’s not the amp itself that needs fused it’s the wire that feeds it. And it don’t matter what your playing weather it be a burp or music the amps power supply has nothing to do with that other then feeding the amp 9-18volts based on what voltage your running. If it’s 9 your in bad trouble and already out a battery and a alt and if it’s as high as 18 you got a hoss of an electrical system.
@charliefrancis64386 жыл бұрын
Yokoboy045 this was only for a test , if you know where all your wires are and they can handle the current you don’t need a fuse for s test run ,Tim Forbes, although if you plan to keep this system going for a long time you should definitely use circuit breakers or fuses, sorry for the confusion, I would never recommend someone not to fuse or circuit break there amp

Uh 143db on 18k Watts is a horrid score. Where are you measuring outside the car? I’m doing 150db on 2 DC audio LVL4 12’s on a DC 2k but it is in a tiny little Chevy Cruze but still. What am I missing here where you just testing the power and not the DB? Or did you just have like 1 sub hooked up or something.
@chuckholmes6 жыл бұрын
i was gonna say the exact same thing. I hit 151 on 4000 watts with 2 original series DDZ10's

I used to have a single JL Audio 15w3 hooked up to a 4 channel amp, an Aura MR-4150q and I was hitting in the mid 140's with that. I think the specs on that said 375 watts.
@nbarnes97505 жыл бұрын
It sounds like everyone is speaking on SPL and power without taking into consideration the resonant frequency of the inside of the vehicle...which also acts as part of the enclosure. Different sized vehicles have different resonant frequencies. You can get an awful lot of SPL out of a little car, with only a moderate amount of power and a couple of reasonably capable subs ...like Tammy Forbes did. Remember...SPL IS SPL, resonant frequency only matters when you are doing Db drag, as you want to set up your build to emphasize the natural resonance of the inside of your ride. Also, I don't think this fellow was as much concerned about the SPL as he was about the input voltage to output power ratio, since these amps employ unregulated power supplies ( the more juice you feed em....the more they hammer). He also had it wired at 1 ohm mono, so he was clearly going for max output. Plus only 1 amp was running. I'm also pretty sure he had a test CD/source plugged in, as he was clearly adjusting the frequency of the burp. And he may very well have been burping at the minivans resonant frequency, but one thing is still to be considered....that last run of 20,000+ watts at 15.9 VOLTS DC...was throwing out about 200 volts at over 100 amps....at 65Hz....PEOPLE!! you can damn near run 3 clothes dryers off that...AT THE SAME TIME!!!...From a car stereo amplifier, let's remember back to the age of EQ/Boosters ( like pyramid and sparkomatic🤔🤔🤔)...amps have come a long way in 40 years. One last thing, it's a class D amp, so it's very efficient ( probably between 80 and 90 percent ) so what you get out is almost the same as what you feed it. Imagine if it was a class AB, or worse yet class A...hell....you'd need a trailer full of alternators with hydraulic drive motors to run em, just to get the rated power out. So it's doing pretty good to run a small handful of subs by itself. Thanks for your time and patience.

The mic is not inside the vehicle during these tests, it’s just sitting on the bench. In the beginning of the video he said he wasn’t testing at his preferred frequency because he didn’t want to disturb the neighbors
