Sinhalese avoided the dominance of sankrit and has some and i say some, features that are even older than vedic and classical Sanskrit. It may even have been a sister language of sanskrit. These people might be related to ishvakus not exact decendants but some relationship.

@@gravewalker34 Magadhi Prakrit + some Maharashtri prakrit during introduction of buddhism influence is the ancestor of Sinhalese. There are 600bc Early Sinhalese Prakrit pottery inscriptions that show extreme similarity to very early Magadhi Prakrit.

Vishakhapatnam was the major sea port of Kalinga. During British period they divided Odisha and took Vishakhapatnam in Madras presidency. and Odisha into Bengal presidency. Vishakhapatnam was major hub of Odiaa people but now Odiaa language is nearly extinct there.

Latest genetic studies on Sinhalese (Sri Lanka) indicates that 70% to 82% of genes of Sinhalese are contributed from West Bengalis.. Bengalis established the 1st strongest Navy back then 2000BCE during the era of Gangariddhi civilization. The Bengali Kaivartya prince of Simhapura (today's Singoor, WB)- Prince Vijay Singha conquered Sri Lanka with 700 boats. Sinhalese have 72% gene alike with Bengalis. Sinhala Lion flag came from the Simhapura kingdom royal icon of Bengal. U see in sankrit water is udak indu etc. But spoken Sinhalese water is watura, which is only found in hittite and other european languages. It shows that many sister languages of sanskrit existed in india. Now they recently found proto bangani which is extinct. It was also a sister language with very different features that r only found outside india.

Bengal= Pundra/Varendra + Radha/Rarh (Brahma + Suhma) + Vanga + Vangala + Harikella + Samatata. So, this 1500 years ago argument is nothing but nonsense. Prince Vijay's Father was from Vanga (present day part of Bangladesh) and mother was from Kalinga ( Andhrapradesh bordering parts of Odisha)
