4/14/17 Wet N Wild slides falling, Volcano bay, and Mangos construction updates

I managed to record a portion of the Wet N Wild Aqua Drag Racer slides falling as part of the park's demolition. I also visited Volcano Bay, showed a bit more of the parking, plus my first update on the Skyplex which will be the site of the World's tallest rollercoaster.

Pleased I got to go to it in 2007 with the family when we visited from the UK. Gutted it's gone, I can truly say we had a great day when we went.

Thanks, takes a lot of walking around, but it's cool to watch an entire (though small) park being built. I just hope I can get into VB without having to pay the $100 to upgrade my annual pass.

they should have kept the slides and rehabed the slides and move some of the slides and retheme them to volcano bay. or atleast use it as part of future slides

I'm kind of surprised Aqua Drag Racer didn't get treated a little more gently, given it was the newest slide at Wet 'N Wild.

I thought they were going to move some of the newer slides to Volcano Bay, but it was just a rumor. I'd love to see something like the Disco H20, but not falling apart like it was.

Those slides was a year or so new, I thought they was tranfered to a new location, i had so much fun speeding there so sad their gone.

they were cool, hopefully the new slides will be better as they have a racer style slide in Volcano Bay. Only thing I didn't like about the Aqua Drag Racer was when I'd hit the bottom of the slide and the small pool area that slowed you down... it was really tough on my elbows because of the sudden impact. That, and carrying the rafts up all those stairs without getting stuck.

That's not where Skyplex is going. That's just a parking garage for Mango's.

No worries. I had to look it up too. The site of the Orlando Skyplex will be on the North East corner of Sandlake and International Dr. Right across the street from the big McDonalds.

Ah! I see it now. My friend and I used to stay at the Hawthorn Suites (still says Residence inn on Google Maps) across the street from that lot. There was some park there years ago, and you can see where the go kart track used to be, but it has been an empty lot for a long time. Thanks for the correction, I'll give the correct info next time =) I was confused because it seems it's the same company that owns Mango's.

The owners of skyplex own the Perkins on international drive, that's where skyplex is going.

I don't know, the tower wasn't new, but the slide was only a few years old.

Before the park closed they were talks of actually bringing several rides from W & W over to Volcano Bay. I learned a month back that wasn't the case when I saw a video from late March of all the rides still at the old park. Appears there were change of plans then. Too bad to since it would've made it even more fun at the new park of going on the former W & W rides.

I really thought they were going to. Makes me wonder why they didn't keep Wet N Wild open longer until Volcano Bay was ready. Though the times I went to Wet N Wild in 2016, even on weekends it was pretty empty, so they may have been operating at a loss.

This one? It was ok. My favorite water park is still the one in Atlantis in the Bahamas. You can get in a tube on their lazy river. From there you can choose to go on a more wild section of the river or stay on the slow path. But you can also go up a conveyer belt and down one of 2 or 3 slides all while still riding on the tube, and at the bottom of the slide you go right back to the lazy river.

They could have made them match the theme, I think if your destroying one park and then building a brand new one, you could easily move some slides.

I'll try to, as close as I live to this park, it's hard to be there at the perfect time to catch the demolition. I missed a bunch of it, but it would have been hard to see from the street, and the helicopter rides are about $40 for only 4-5 minutes... but only a few seconds going by Wet N Wild.

That is how I felt when I found that the rest of it was torn down shortly after, but I didn't get any video of it because I already left.

I meant the rest of the Aqua Drag Racer, meaning the tower the slides were attached to was also knocked down later that day. I passed by later and saw it was gone.
