@Corvus Morve where have you read that good and bad don't exist in Buddhism? There is a concept of oneness of Good and Evil, but they both exist. Here's a Buddhist Dictionary explanation: oneness of good and evil [善悪不二] ( zen’aku-funi): Also, non-duality of good and evil. The principle that good and evil are not separate and distinct, but are inherent in all phenomena. “Good” in Buddhism means that which benefits oneself and others, while “evil” means that which harms oneself and others. Good and evil are not two mutually exclusive entities but are two different functions of life. The principle of three thousand realms in a single moment of life elucidates that all possible conditions or states of existence reside within life at each moment. Life therefore simultaneously possesses the potential for both good and evil, and even when manifesting one, it is never devoid of the potential for the other.

@Corvus Morve I don't think that is a totally accurate representation of the Buddhist view (though I am not a Buddhist.) There can be benefits in things and events that are perceived as 'bad'. Hence the old saying that 'every cloud has a silver lining'. (There may be a little rose-tinted viewing here with 'every' - but we could truthfully say 'many'. The stoics settle for a kind of toleration of unpleasantness. Fine. That works. However I personally prefer Khalil Gibran's take on it : 'The deeper that sorrow carves into your being the more joy you can contain'. I do think you have to agree that we can certainly appreciate things more if we haven't always had a smooth ride.

I feel this is how Orlando Bloom truly won Katy Perry’s heart. Just two souls with the same values and goals (irrespective of external factors and societal mandates). Katy is innately spiritual so this makes sense. Both have been through experiences in their lives collecting both good and bad times; bringing the best version of themselves to this point in time. I am so happy for them. And now they have a beautiful baby; who will grow up with parents who understand Buddhism and this love and practice. I am sending daimoku for everlasting love to Orlando and Katy, an even higher success in Katy’s career, and of course the cherished raising of a healthy, strong, n beautiful baby! I am hopeful for our future ❤️

I started chanting in Omaha Nebraska in 1976 and received Gohonzon the same year. Long story short I had loads of benefits to lengthy to put here but I always wanted to move back to europe. I had an auto accident which made me lose my job, 6 months later after getting another job, one day the boss told me to sweep the office floor and I found a trade magazine aviaition and found an ad in back for high paying overseas job , I faxed my C.V and was hired. that was in 1989, since then I have travelled the world and wound up flying Heads of State around the world. The Gohonzon taps your subconscious and karma storage and your dreams come true

I remember finding out that he was an SGI member after printing out a picture him with our beads(to put on my wall bc i was a teen girl). And when i told my family they didnt believe me. And then him presenting the poem to sensi was published and they said I was right. But its so heartwarming to hear him talk about a religion I was born into. My parents had been practicing for a few decades, as was my grandmother. My brothers and i are called fortune babies and to this day, we still practice.

Yes, this is Orlando Bloom talking so it will break the attention of many people because of his celebrity status in society, but his understanding can be had by anyone. Just do the work. Chant, study and share this Buddhism. That is all it takes. But realize you must go through your own experiences and growth as he did to reach a deep understanding. But it is very much accessible to all of us.

I so appreciate this. I have struggled to remain true to the practice because of heavy conditioning as a Christian. I even gave back my Gohonzon. I still chanted privately or with an app. It has been tough getting my Anglican/Catholic husband to be supportive so it made me feel lost without an anchor. We both love you Orlando so I sent him this link without fear or hiding. Thank you, thank you. I don’t quite know what to do about getting my Gohonzon back but in the meantime I am chanting with hope for support in my home and life.

Chant to get your gohonzon back. Chant for support from your environment and talk to a member or leader you trust. Read Nichiren's writings. I was raised in the church, went to Catholic school and my father worked for the Catholic diocese. It is hard to break those chains. However, if you read On Attaining Buddhahood in this Lifetime (Nichiren's gosho) and if you can get it, Daisaku Ikeda's lecture on it, you will break through. Don't give up.
