I'm amazed that people have the heartlessness to make such asinine comments claiming this was a hoax. One of my best friends is a paramedic in Orlando at a station not zoned for this club. I spoke to him yesterday afternoon while he was on shift and he told me about hearing this being reported on dispatch as it happened, and how he was waiting to hear if his station would be deployed for body cleanup. Dozens of people have died. This is a tragedy. Keep your stupidity to yourself.

came back to this because i was remembering christina grimmie, who was shot in orlando i believe a few days before this, my dad lived in orlando at the time and i was visiting, my stepmom loved christina and we watched the coverage the whole night, i remember a few days or so later this shooting was on the screen, i remember breaking down and asking my stepmom why it was like this, why was the world like this, i was eleven years old and had never experienced nor witnessed anything like that before, we visited the memorial and i felt the pain, and the tragedy, seeing family members bawling at the vigil just broke me, being a child and seeing this was too much, it shouldn’t be the “norm” children in america shouldn’t have to be accustomed to this, now i’m almost an adult and looking back brings back all of the memories of those few days, im very confident when i say america should be ashamed. again i may be remembering the timeline wrong but i was eleven so don’t come for me

Another scary and disturbing thing is that if he was aiming to kill a lot of people, his choice may very well be the correct answer. The club isn't huge, quite an open space, most people are unguarded or some are even drunk, not many escape route, it was also pretty dark. Not a big area but packed with people. He strategically chose it.

My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the shootings at Pulse! Why is it so many fail to acknowledge their all-or-nothing thinking? I'm reading many ignorant comments, and I can't help but to respond! We call them "THEM"...anyone who is different from us in any way. And with fear itself drawing the lines of separation, everyone within what is considered "THEM" is processed as all exhibiting the exact same behavior, the exact set of values. And then, there's the irrational fear and hatred because someone looks or dresses differently. I'll give you an example: I was beaten by 5 black men just days after the Rodney King verdict and the LA riots. It happened between my home and the few doors down to the club/restaurant I played piano at every weekend. These fellows hadn't a clue that my best childhood friend, who'd died just a few years before, was black. They had no knowledge that I'd written a letter to be submitted to the paper (and was later published) proclaiming not only my love for everyone, but also my belief that every single one of us falls victim to each other's prejudice. My attackers had no idea that I considered them brothers, fellow-travelers on this planet. All they saw was a white man who was an enemy, one fully- stocked with the attitude and behavior they attribute to all who are Caucasian. What is happening now? We have the same ignorance applied to those who are gay, and those who are Muslim. All within those particular groups exhibit the exact behavior, hold onto the same values and share the same goals? The one holding that all-or-nothing kind of belief, the one holding ALL who are "different" accountable for the behavior of the few, well seriously...can there be a more ignorant or dangerous way of thinking than that? If you want peace and love in the world, it begins with your thinking, firstly...But peace and love only become "set in stone" by your words and actions! Share your light during these dark days, don't add to the darkness!

I met somebody who said his name was Khalid in north Africa in 1983 and he identified another there as Osama. We were actually talking about using commandeered fuel lead an aircraft to attack To attack tall buildings in the United States. I was on an anti-stalking forum with Gavin Eugene long etc. etc. How the hell do I keep running into these people? It’s not as though I try. I was teaching English at the king Saudi University in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. A friend who I know approached me. I had talk to him quite some time earlier and I had told him I was from Florida and I named some of the cities and towns near where I live. He approached me and told me he had met somebody else from Florida. He said his name was Omar. He said Omar had given him the name of the city where he lived and it sounded similar to one of the cities I had named for him before in conversation. So I said OK well I’m from Stuart and other cities are Jensen Beach, indiantown, Salerno, Fort Pierce, Port Saint Lucie. When I said Saint Lucie he said yes that’s it, Saint Lucie that’s definitely it. A short time later two new students showed up in one of my English classes. I had never seen them before and they were older. They brought up the discussion of homosexuality. Somebody definitely told them to shoot them. This guy said he hated homosexuals and he needed to get some advice on what to do about it. Somebody definitely told him to shoot them. And no I am not making this up. It happened.
