Ok I had a radiator leak that caused an engine overheat. I think I used up all my Infiniti Goodwill credits.

Glad you got that sorted out!! .... I guess the takeaway is never make assumptions on the issue, check all alerts (eg. the temp gauge or CEL code). With a lot of plastic parts on the radiator, this is a bit of common issue on these cars, maybe a bit early for 80k though. The car went into "limp mode", the ECU puts a restriction on the maximum revs to prevent further damage to the engine. Many other faults will also trigger this mode. Don't give up on the car, I promise it will serve you well if you take good care of it. I have owned these cars for almost 15yrs and repairs are usually minimal, the drivetrain is practically bulletproof. You'll have to do your part though, 1) find a good mechanic familiar with imports. 2) Maybe buy an OBD2 reader to scan for CEL codes in the future. 3) And like you said, inspect your car regularly. ALL THE BEST!!

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions! I just bought an OBD2. I drove it to work all week no issues. Definitely keeping it. Have a great weekend.

How much did you pay for the repair?

I had the same problem with my qx70 around.

Radiator replacement would of cost me $1,750 but the local Infiniti rep applied a Goodwill complementary credit. I just paid a few hundred dollars for thermostat & upper/lower hose replacements and coolant flush.

You went to the stealership for this? The only reason they gave you a "good will" repair is because they calcultaed they ripped you off enough times that they can afford to do this repair and still come out profitable overall and they can retain you as a "good customer" (to rip off for later). I hear people all the time say "I have a friend who works there at dealership" (They are NOT your friends, they care about the bottom line) and in order to get the maximum squeeze out of you they act nice and pleasant to build fake rapport with you and then when the time coms for a repair they use that built up "trust" factor to rake you over the coals. It may not be what people want to hear, but its the way it is.

I have a very good business relationship with everyone at this dealership’s service department. They always honor a local mechanic’s price or price it lower. DIY parts I order from Rockauto.com.

@@orlandojacinto1 I hear that a lot. "Good friendship", "good business relationship" (See my above comment) They think of it the same way no matter how its worded. I'm not saying you in particular got ripped off. I am just saying that is how dealerships operate in general, whether its you or anyone else. Thats why most people will take it to an independent when its out of warranty.

@jensz9360 It’s all good. My QX70 has been out of warranty for years the dealership tried to sell an extended warranty, I decided not to purchase. Right after the warranty ended, I had three major repairs (rear differential bushing/subframe replacement, control valve assembly & radiator replacement)…all happened within three years. Infiniti Goodwill took care of the parts, I paid for labor. Combined cost was over 12K, my outta pocket was 3K. Eventually Goodwill will stop so I DIY what I feel comfortable doing myself or take it to a local mechanic.

@@orlandojacinto1 you mentioned the subframe replacement. That is interesting, if you dont mind me asking, what was wrong with the subframe? Radiator replacement seems quite common with this model and all variations even back to first gen FX.

@jensz9360 The bushing within the rear subframe where the rear differential connects to, burst. The technician said the entire rear subframe needed to be replaced the bushing itself could not be replaced.

Orlando, it's clear from the series of videos that the vehicle was badly overheated. (at 8:25 in your previous video the temperature guage was pegged) The heating issues (rear heating hose first, then cracked radiator) are what cooked the transmission components. My point is it's all related and not indicative of "one failure after another" one the vehicle. However, if price sanity ever returns to the car market, I'd dump that unit.

Hey. I just picked up an infiniti qx70 2015 last week yesterday i was driving and i saw smoke cmg out of the engine immediately stopped and checked seems radiator leakage. And then dropped it off at the agency because i have warranty. They say they only have to replace radiator but is there any possibility of knowing about transmission going bad? Cuz am worried they might hide about transmission

I’m not sure. @noahplays3698 just had his transmission rebuilt, coolant leaked into his transmission. This has me worried because the repairs I had done were out of warranty. I only paid for labor cost not parts. I had the transmission valve body replaced but the transmission is fine.
Will I BUY another Lexus RCF?
