Author Georgette Heyer sometimes described the heroine's hair as being "dressed in neat bands". Does this mean braids?

I love your videos! Could you please let us know of a good source for hairbodkins? I've looked for some similar to these and have been unable to find them.

I usually make my own hair bodkins using dowels, a pencil sharpener and sand paper. If you want to buy them, the search terms "laying tool" (embroidery) and "shawl pin", in combination with "metal", "wood" or "bone" should get you some hits. good luck!

I think the modern term would be hair stick. You can find them on Etsy. My favorite shop for hair prongs and sticks is Morgan's Manes. I've been buying from her for a decade and they aways stay in place. Here's her shop www.etsy.com/shop/MorgansMane
