Hi i want to know about orthodox christians

Absolutely I like this topic! I’m 67 & have lived all over the US, in Europe & Northern Africa. I’ve witnessed so many denominations. The one I’m most curious about now are the Coptic Christians. They are suppose to be the oldest Christian church dating back to Jesus time. I wanted to meet the ones in Egypt, but travel for Americans & military personnel was risky after the 67 wars & during Kaddafy’s 69 coup when I was there. I know little about them at this point, but would be interested in a comparison between them and the modern church.

While I'm not overly religious I grew up in an Orthodox country (Bulgaria) and I can say what I like about our churches is that they're always open and you can go in any time you want, you can light a candle and sit with your own thoughts without anyone bothering you. Catholics do have magnificent buildings and beautiful window art.

Also a Catholic and I have friends from other religions (both Christian and non) but no practicing Orthodox friends. Always considered Orthodox Catholics as very similar but curious to know whether we are fundamentally the same with superficial differences or if there is something fundamentally different in our theology that separates us. If I remember correctly the Orthodox communion is the only (non-Roman Catholic) communion we are allowed to receive from a different church but only under extenuating circumstances.

Practicing Greek Orthodox here, born and raised in the United States. I'm 1st generation of parents from Cyprus. My wife is a Catholic convert, and is very active in the orthodox faith. While we practice orthodoxy, we have attended many Catholic services with my extended family and friends. Also, my children attend Catholic school. Both Orthodoxy and Catholicism provide the same teachings of christ . We are all Christians. The only differences I see between the two are basically politics.

Pope Francis is allowing the blessing of couples in gravely sinful relationships who are not repenting, but seeking the blessing of their relationships to make them more acceptable to God. I can prove 100% that Jesus PBUH was not God. He was one of the mightiest messenger of Allah. I can tell you some verses from your Bible that shows clearly that Jesus PBUH was not God. 1) Gospel of Matthew Ch12 V28- I cast out devils with the spirit of God. 2) Gospel of Luke Ch11 V20- I with the finger of God caste out devils. 3) Gospel of John Ch5 V30- I can of my own self do nothing as I hear I judge and my judgement is just for I seek not my will but the will of Almighty God. He is also saying in Gospel of Saint Matthew many of them will say to me on that day Lord Lord didn't we worshipped you didn't we fought by your name didn't we cast out devils by your name didn't we did mighty works by your name he will say you in reply go from here you Rubbish I don't knew you he will justify you that he is not your God he will say that I am the messenger of Allah And I can quote yousome more Verses also which clearly shows that Jusus PBUH was not God and if he was God why would he let himself be crusified he would escape easily by any meracle tell??? Show me a single verse in the Bible in which Jesus PBUH himself said that I am God worship me he took God's name everytime in everything so how can he be God .The truth is that Jesus PBUH was one of the mightiest messenger of Allah.
