Mat R 1. The Holy Trinity is the truth. Look at the Book of Revelation, for example, the Lamb (Jesus) is depicted as divine with the Father. Look at the baptismal formula Christ gave us. 2. Do you think that God would allow the truth to die out like the heresies that you believe in did (Arianism, Gnosticism). 3. Why would Christ say “this is my body” if he didn’t mean it to be the Eucharist? 4. Why would Jesus give the Keys of Heaven to Peter (the Church) and say that Peter is the rock? 5. God can sacrifice himself for our sins because God can do anything. Overall, read the bible (old and new testament) to find the truth.
@lukeh7440
@lukeh7440 4 жыл бұрын
@@mtalk828 It seems to me that when we abandon truth and knowledge that came before us, we led pride control us. Who is to say what "is inspired and hasn't been changed"? The Bible was not corrupted by early church scribes. Gnosticism is evil. How would they even do that? Christians in the Early Church had knowledge of the Holy Scriptures, so a corruption could not have happened. For example, when St. Jerome mistranslated one word about Jonah and the Whale, there were riots. Your quote from Deuteronomy does not prove your point. Why would the Hebrews make sacrifices to God if not to atone for sins and impurities? Sacrifice is biblical, and Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for all of our sins. Why believe in the New Testament if you do not believe that Christ sacrificed himself for our sins?
@lukeh7440
@lukeh7440 4 жыл бұрын
@@mtalk828 First of all, "wrest" means forcibly pull something from a person's grasp, so in the context of 2 Peter 3:15-16 means to misinterpret leads to their own doom, not to edit. The later Church scribes did not twist Paul's writings to deify Jesus, as Jesus is shown to be divine throughout the old and new testaments, particularly in Apocalypse where the Lamb (Christ) is divine. Jesus didn't outright declare he was to be worshipped as God because he had humility, which is a virtue. In the Old Covenants, human sacrifices were illicit, but Christ sacrificed himself in the New Testament, "Take ye, and eat. This is my body. And taking the Chalice, he gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying: Drink ye all of this. FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT WHICH SHALL BE SHED FOR MANY UNTO THE REMISSION OF SINS." (Mt. 26:26-28) To answer your question about what Bible Jesus followed: he followed the Old Testament, but gave us a New Testament. You cannot prove that the new testament was altered, because the true and original new testament still exists to this day. Christ is divine. The Holy Trinity is One God. Mat R, how do you explain why "the Son" is in the baptismal formula given to us by Christ if he is not divine.

Axel -- one of the most commonly-used liturgical prayers refers to God "Who art everywhere present and fillest all things." The ancient Church doesn't teach that God is only present there - ? But its embrace of Mystery allows us to remember back before the "Enlightenment" (a recent development, in terms of human history!) to experience how, through the worship of God that we celebrate here on the temporally-bound earth, we can be nonetheless mystically joined to the eternal worship of heaven. That is (presumably) what struck the Tsar's emissaries when they commented as they did on the power of Christian worship in the first millennium...?

A very symbolic and profound Liturgy. Christians of all directions need to be together, because we are all brothers in Christ Jesus and this world hates us. We can have our differences. And brothers who live in the same house, sometimes swear with each other, but at the same time keep love. It is important not to forget that Christ is one for all and Christ's sacrifice was made for all of us, regardless of our denomination.

I like to imagine what Jesus, peace and blessings be upon him, would have thought upon seeing this. Some people in Europe speaking in a language he wouldn't have known, wearing all of these elaborate, golden, expensive costumes, and praying to all of these idols, in HIS NAME, and worshipping the thing he supposedly died on, elevating him to a status he didn't elevate himself to and wouldn't have dared imagined himself as being so. And all these "archbishops" and patriarchs giving themselves dominion over certain places and claiming abilities they don't have.
@Valexia683
@Valexia683 6 ай бұрын
"peace and blessings be upon him": He IS peace and blessing, He does not need us to place any upon Him. "would have thought upon seeing this". There is no would have, since He is there present and is eternal. "Some people in Europe speaking a language he wouldn't have known" He knows every language... He is beyond language. "wearing all of these elaborate, golden, expensive costumes". They aren't costumes, they are vestments. In the Old Testament, God instructed the IsraIites to build altars of gold and wear fine linens for vestments. Using expensive things for one's glory is wrong, but not so if for the glory of and by direct command from God. "praying to all these idiols" Christ said pray for one another, and that "prayer of a righteous man availeth much". "worshipping the thing he supposedly died on". There is nothing supposed about His death and resurrection. And we do not worship wood nor icons, we venerate them, and all worship goes to the Triune God. For a man to go from sinner to saint, it is only possible with God's grace. So it is God who we worship and glorify.. "elevating him to a status he didn't elevate himself to and wouldn't have dared imagined himself as being so". Christ said He is the Alpha and the Omega, that sounds pretty elevated to me... He will also carry out the final judgment of our souls. He has the authority to decide who gets eternal punishment and who eternal paradise. Sounds very elevated. Read also, luke 20: 41-44. Engaging in this argument is like beating a dead horse. "And all these "archbishops" and patriarchs giving themselves dominion over certain places and claiming abilities they don't have". Their ability comes through God. Christ gave them the authority in Matthew 16:19 and John 20:23. And the whole new testament is Christ giving them authority and instruction to lead His church. These archbishops and patriarchs are a part of an uninterrupted, traceable line of bishops going back to the Apostles. In the Book of Acts of the Apostles, it describes how priesthood was passed from the Apostles to those after them, and then those after them, etc.. it has been done the same way till this day. Their abilities come through God. "with God all things are possible" Matthew 19:26 There are many examples in the Book of Acts where the Apostles were given ability to forgive sins and heal people..

Jesus is beyond language, as He is Eternal and Divine, but regardless, the Patriarch of Alexandria, speaks Greek. Jesus absolutely knew Greek. Stop lying to yourself.

@@Valexia683 All nice, of course, if Jesus - peace and blessings be upon him - had actually said any of what you say. But he didn't. He never mentioned the trinity. Until John, he does not make any claims for divinity (which is not something you just forget to tell about, you know), and even if he does, it doesn't matter, because it was not him nor his disciples nor anyone he had met that wrote these things, so they are not to be trusted or accredited

Simply beautiful! Is it customary to refer to the Patriarch as Pope in the Orthodox Christian Church? I’m Roman Catholic and my understanding is the title of Pope is reserved for the spiritual head of the Roman Catholic Church. Please enlighten me. God bless 🙏

This title was first assumed by the patriarch of Alexandria, long before it was assumed by the Bishops of Rome

Phil Olivieri Dear Phil. Sometimes the truth is beyond our believe and expectations. So we get comfortable with half of the truth provided it serves our interest. Well i am glad to share with you the full truth which i heart from the Patriarch himself. In the old days before the great schism, the Bishop of Rome during his visit in Alexandria, heard the arabs calling the Bishop of Alexandria “Papa” which means father. He liked that and ask the Bishop of Alexandria if he would allow him to use that title for himself. The Bishop of Alexandria gave him permission without any hesitation. Papa as you know is called Pope in english. I leave it to you now to decide who deserves the title. The one who earned it or the other one who asked for it?

@@eliasstavrou1355 The Pope of Rome has been called Father since the early century... "For from the beginning it has been your practice to do good to all the brethren in various ways, and to send contributions to many churches in every city. Thus relieving the want of the needy, and making provision for the brethren in the mines by the gifts which you have sent from the beginning, you Romans keep up the hereditary customs of the Romans, which your blessed bishop Soter has not only maintained, but also added to, furnishing an abundance of supplies to the saints, and encouraging the brethren from abroad with blessed words, as a loving FATHER his children" ----[Saint Dionysius of Corinth ,171 A.D.]

pinoy sarisari Dear Pinoy Im afraid to disappoint you. Saint Dionysius of Corinth was Greek and his letters were written to a number of churches not only to Rome. In the letter to the Bishop of Rome as you correctly pointed out he paised his charitable work. I personally didn’t see anything related to calling him Papa (Pope) which originates from arabic. If he used the word Father ( Pater) in Greek which is very possible, that was a title used for all the Bishops. So in conclusion,. No proof that the Bishop of Rome was the first to carry the title Pope. I insist that Pope originates from the arabic Papa.

@@donaldgoofy5395 I am simply replying to the post above about the pope not earning the title Pope when it is obvious that Popes earn the title since they treat all the christians around the empire as his children...Encouraging them and giving them charitable contributions like a true Father...

The title "Pope" was first used by the Bishop of Alexandria hundreds of years before the Bishop of Rome did the same. The Pope of Alexandria and All Africa is the Successor of St. Mark who evangelized Egypt. Unlike the Pope of Rome, the Pope of Alexandria is equal in power to the other Patriarchs and only has jurisdiction over the Church of Alexandria and All Africa. In terms of Honor, the Pope of Alexandria is very high ranking due to being ancient and historically being a part of the Pentarchy (Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem). There are two people who claim the title. The Coptic Orthodox (Oriental Orthodox) Pope and this one, who is Eastern Orthodox.
