Another very interesting video I’ve been doing this for 30 years and have wondered what those lines were in the past there from the spatula, wow

Very informative and helpful video thx so much. It's funny cause the lab I used to work at told everyone to work with relatively dry molds. If they saw me wet them before pouring like you did I'd get chewed out guaranteed. We were only supposed to gently mist with de-bubbler before pouring and we always had bubble issues all the time and no one could ever figure out why. I remember even vibrating the bowl like you do and was told that that CREATES bubbles not gets rid of them.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand the argument to use dry impressions, to prevent the tooth surfaces from becoming chalky, but it’s difficult to get a smooth flow without breaking the surface tension. I don’t see how vibrating the bubbles to the surface can cause bubbles in the mix. It’s important to know the science behind what we do. Thanks, again, for sharing.

I'm a dental tech.for 49 years.I mix the stone or plaster at a very thick consistency and run my stone or plaster in each tooth from the lingual instead of running it in from tooth to tooth.I've found this usually prevents small voids in the teeth which sometime occurs. If the the impression has some pin holes in it sometimes voids do occur no matter how carefull your are.

Do you always just cast two impressions at a time? I work at a busy orthodontic lab in the uk and tend to cast 20 at a time

I see that your models appear to be regular plaster, and do not seem to be heat damaged at all after soldering. I am using a blazer torch and often have some scorching and pitting after soldering. I am currently using a type 4 resin die stone for all our appliances, is that a bad choice? Do you ever use an additive like Stalite or slurry water to strengthen the model?

I use slurry water with regular lab stone.

I use a propane/oxygen torch for soldering. The blazer torch is not as hot and requires more area to be heated to reach solder flow temperature.

If you are making an instructional video, at least do it well. The powder must be poured in the water and not vice versa! See formation of crystallization cores! thanks
