Great review without unnecessary talking. Thank You 🙏

I can attest to these! I've had mine for 3yrs now and use them for bikepacking, commuting and going to the market. I probably have about 16,000km on them with on/off road touring along with the commuting. There is only one fault that I have found, and that's the plastic protector at the bottom on the inside knocks against the pannier rack, but that is really the only noise they make. There is another KZbin video out there that shows how to replace the orange straps with a Voile strap. I feel this is really good modification as it allows you to pack on top, but also holds more securely (not that the strap isn't strong/secure). Greetings from Belgium!

Great to know thanks! When you attach the hooks on the rear and hook them onto your rack they shouldn’t make any noise whatsoever, at least mine are dead silent! That is because I bought myself another pair and by having two hooks on both bags they are very very secure!

@@jeremyw.465 are you using the Ortlieb Quick Rack ? I have it and I find it impossible to use two hooks when using the low position on the rack (which I rather use).

Great minimalist panniers. I use them for tropical tours

Great set up! I plan on purchasing the same Ortleib bags front and rear but will have a full size framebag and handlebar bag. My total volume should be around 50L, which I feel is optimum for touring at a speedier pace!

Good and informative review. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I would have liked to see you putting some kit inside, to see how much kit; like a stove, pan, food, and the like. Otherwise it's hard to visualise what 12.5 litres looks like. Good video though! Take care.

True that would have been quite helpful. The next time! Thanks

Good video! How tall are you? Do you have any issues with your heels hitting the bags?
@jeremyw.465 Жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, I am 1,74 (5,7) and my bike is size 54 (18). And I haven't got any issues with my heels hitting the bags. Firstly the rale of the rack (from Ortlieb, I also have a video about that) is tilted a bit so the bags are in are further back at the bottom. Secondly the length of your crank arms make a difference because of how far your feet will be moved back, mine are 172,5cm. Thirdly it depends on the chainstay length of your bike. My Gravel bike has a chainstay length of 40mm and touring and bikepacking bikes are usually around that length or even longer so if you have such a bike ther shouldn't be any problems. But If you have a MTB you should first check that chainstay length. Also the tube lengths of bigger frames are most often corrected so if you are bigger (with longer cranks e.g. 175) the chainstays should be longer so that there shouldn't be a problem. You can also just ask a local Bikeshop when you pass by one and they should be able to tell that quiet quickly ;) Hope I could help you!

Hey! good video! can you tell me what kind of handlebar mount for the bag in front?
@jeremyw.465 Жыл бұрын
Probably the lowrider from Tubus is the best you can get!

Good review! May I ask how your Stevens Gavere is doing after all the traveling with load?
@jeremyw.4656 ай бұрын
Hey, yes! It is holding up great! I will have to change some parts after I had a crash at the end of summer, true the wheels and do overall maintenance. I noticed that the bags and accessories I put on it do scratch the paint, even the brooks frame bag which claimed that it uses frame paint friendly straps but that doesn't seem to work. But I'm ok with my bike looking used over the years because that is what it's there for. Cheers!

@@jeremyw.465 Nice to hear! My first season is this year 👍

Be careful, nice bags but the inside plastic panel is very sharp, when I first stuffed a jacket in to the bag, I ripped, literally, the skin off my knuckles. I'm going to cover the edge with plastic edging. Also, the quick release slide mechanism are nice, no Allen wrench needed but you'll need a flat screw driver to pop them open. Maybe in time they will loosen up but the REI sales person could not open them without a screw driver and neither could I.

I had no issues up to now and I also haven't had problems with the hooks coming loose even though I only close them by hand. But always great to hear other experiences. Cheers!

Great video! What are the names of the front bags? I can't find them on the Ortlieb official website
@jeremyw.465 Жыл бұрын
The Ortlieb panniers for the front are called Fork-Pack they are available in two different sizes. If you are interested I also have a video about them on my channel ;)

Thx for the video! Do you have the 4L or 5.8L Ortlieb Fork-Packs?
@jeremyw.465 Жыл бұрын
Hey Max, I have the bigger version with 5,8L per side, so in total 11,6L.
