I own a the Gen 3 and Gen 4. They are cool little bots. I keep them with me all the time. Note: in order for these bots to do their other reactions you must let them be and not touch them. As for the firmware updates, you will need a PC. There is an update firmware out that fixes some minor issues on the Gen 4 Ortomi. Both Gen 3 and 4 have wifi in them and if not mistaken the Gen 4 also has bluetooth. Seems that the board used is an ESP32 Pico variant/custom PCB board.

not charged when you get them? That seems like a mistake. Batteries last the longest at 50% that's why you usually get devices halfway charged.

3:23 the ortomi 3 has a 500MAH battery, i dont know for the ortomi 2 or 1, but 500MAH is pretty small so it will lose battery over time, so yeah, hope that helps! also, i want to address how you can open an ortomi 3-4, for the third gen, gently push the screen until the back comes off (this will damage the glue) and then you can get to the ortomi, for the 4, i dont have one on hand but there is a seal in the front, you probably need to push some area til it opens (if theres glue it will be damaged)

The battery is not normally allowed to be shipped charged that's why they where switched on I think x

I’ve been following these for a year now, but haven’t taken the plunge of purchase! Both of my daughters are interested, and so am I, however; being blind, it would be beneficial if they made different sounds that would go along with the various emotions being expressed! It looks like you'll have to use a Windows or Apple computer to do it which means I'm out since I use a Chrome book. The face plate is removable so I'm guessing there's a connection point inside. I didn't take mine apart to look.

@@outsider238 mine had a rattaling noise but i managed to fix it (It was the battery, they forgot to remove the protective film of the adhesive during production thankfuly that was an easy fix that i could do it at home)

Also they used to 3d-print the ortomi case and assemble it them selfs but now it sounds like they out source every thing. Also warning the new cable do not transfer data, so you can't update them with that one but the old one of the 3 does have data transfer.
