I hadn't thought about it in years, but we developed laser ablation process at IBM back in the 80's that used helium blown over the part for debris removal. We had a ss tube with holes in it for the helium and on the other side was a vacuum pickup.
@DIY3DTECHcom3 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I know some folks also use CO2 from large cylinders used to refill paint ball guns too...
@mdrew446283 жыл бұрын
@@DIY3DTECHcom yeah we used M cylinders, doubled up with an auto switch over when one of them went below a cutoff pressure. That way you could change out the low cylinder without interrupting the process. The helium was used due to the size of the helium atom and the faster speed to sweep away debris if I remember correctly....30 years ago.....

another cool thing to add would be a protective "glass" in front of the laser beam like the new Atomstack A5 has. I'm curious to see your progress in air assist for these machines.

Interesting you say this, I am doing laser upgrade and it has a front glass as you mention. I don't fell its safe, so look for more this in the next month...

Hello You Sade that your using an 6 bars compressor. But, then u told us that you dont use so much air to blow away the coal. So, my question is: how high or how much air is going throw the nuzzle? Or, how much air does it required? Have on compressor outdoor that can do up to 12 bar. Or can i do it with an air compressor for fish tank?
@DIY3DTECHcom3 жыл бұрын
I use an air brush compressor, at 6PSI via 0.8mm nozzle no clue on the volume of the air just the pressure. Note I find a good balance going much higher runs the risk of blowing the work piece away or out of alignment.
@Vnkjoshi3 жыл бұрын
Which air compressor you used for this?

How is this connected to the air pump? I can't see the pump you're using in the link but think I've something similar. Is it simple insert or do I need a connector of some kind?
@DIY3DTECHcom3 жыл бұрын
You can direct connect it, but mine is a little more complex. I will likely do a video covering its design...
@lgallert3 жыл бұрын
@@DIY3DTECHcomDid you do the connection video to the air pump, i am stuck at that point as well, is there some kind of special fitting needed to connect the clear tubing to the air compressor directly or a fitting to connect the air tubing to the threading tubing that came with the air compressor?
@lgallert3 жыл бұрын
I figured it out just get a 1/8" BSPP x 1/4" Barb and attach the tubing directly to the compressor forgoing the hose that came with it.

I wonder if I could use a fish tank air compressor instead of a $80 air brush one. What are your thoughts?
@DIY3DTECHcom3 жыл бұрын
But you need one with high output so you are going to be in the $65 to $80 price in general.

Is there some vacuum at the back to catch the smoke / debris being blown by the air assist? Cheers, Mike.

@@DIY3DTECHcom Cool. I've ordered the Ortur as I have found that using an existing RAMBo board (Prusa MKS3) with Marlin firmware does not allow full usage of my existing OptLaser Diode attachment. Basically the same 3D printer can not simply 'double' up as a laser engraver.

this design has already been done and shared on thingiverse since july. its nearly exact down to the extruder nozzle minus the tube screw you added, would this then be a remix?
