so glad u did this brand Gary! in the flesh, only ever seen the undesirable. not the most desirable as mentioned seen for sale near Toronto ontario canada. keeping an eye out. perhaps more comments later. again, so happy u demo-d this. now I am ur biggest fan tah tah for now!!!

Great Review! These Guitars are Great Players! I Would no Say These are Gibson Killers, but i think Personally it is a great Alternative, Specially It has a little bit Of Other Attack while Playing and Other Finish (Poly Finish on my Orville!) Greets !

Yes i believe too the orville by gibson is the best and the F serial is the second best of them, the K serial has 3 pcs maple top if u look the std model but still, its still a Good guitar!

Ooh that's a nice one there Gary. The Orville (I wish I could fly) Les Paul's are a bit special, with quality construction. One question ... what's going on under the pickguard as I thought I could see a black disc ???

Hi Chris and thanks :-) Ah, well spotted! So, in order to avoid damaging the paintwork there should be a little felt pad to distance the scratchplate nut from the body. However, I could only find a cymbal felt spacer so bunged that in, hahahahahahah! Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Gary, what a great guitar. There must be a serious gap in my education because I wasn't aware of the "Orville" name on a Gibson guitar. I could have easily walked past one at a boot sale or something and thought it was just a copy. (if anyone was daft enough to take it there in the first place!). I do have a look now and again last time I went there were plenty of those cheapo "Encore" guitars but nothing people would actually want to buy.

Hi Reeldin and thanks :-) I like car boot sales. Last time I went I picked up the original copy of The Bible. Hoping for The Holy Grail next time or some more Dead Sea Scrolls. Oh, hang on...... Realistically, Encore went through a good phase, a terrible phase then a re-naming phase and are now known as Vintage. John Hornby Skewes will be an importer/distributor you'll have heard of. I reckon they changed the name after the shoddy stuff they were knocking out but defo keep an eye out for the early guitars - they were pretty good and came with quality parts. Always take a look at the bridge. Back in the 80's they were using Kahler hard tails. Those guitars were very high quality. Cheers, Gary :-)

@@FoxysGuitarShow Hi Gary, I don't know an awful lot about Encore guitars. I got one for a young nephew of mine a while back because he wanted to learn to play but when it turned up quite honestly it was pretty shoddy. I've seen a few "Vintage" guitars on ebay but had no idea they are re-branded Encore instruments. BTW I didn't come away empty handed last Sunday, I got two mugs with Will Ferrell on them with pics from the "Elf" movie. 50p for the pair, sometimes it doesn't hurt to splash out a bit. I did see a few grails there but none of them had holes in.

If Im gonna be fooled into buying a guitar like this again like the yellowed custom 89 I own from Gibson (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXq2Yoylh9p2gMk&ab_channel=AndreasLandgren). I prefer to be fooled to the tune of 800 -1400 not 50 haha. Good review! I payed 1800 for the Gibson in 1998.

Gibson inspired by Les Paul and Epiphone when it comes to the Les Paul guitar Gibson most certainly didn't inspire anyone Especially Epiphone the foundation the blue print for the Les Paul solid body guitar began by Les Paul in the Epiphone factory not Gibson Gibson had nothing to do with the beginning they took from it and built on it...
