I think this because about 30 years ago, the liberal minds slowly and seditiously took control of the elite places in higher learning and now they fruits of there labor are paying off. To the point where they were taught an ideology, that has snuck into business, schools from junior to high school are teaching and indoctrination of children who are at their most maluble between 0 and 21 plus. Thus the takeover happened when parents let the schools take over childrearing. I would suggest that the socialist plot is a fait acompli and it will be a 100 years before the realization and a new direction can begin.

@@Sunflower-ug3eh It was written in 1948 and it was a 'future shock' novel about a fictional, but plausible world, it takes place in the year 1984 (which was the future for Orwell) He depicts a Totalitarian Regime that is built and maintained upon the emotional, intellectual and biological control of it's citizens. The only loyalty is loyalty to the Party or State. Humans are kept separate in sterilized, empty confined spaces and there is constant surveillance from an imagined overlord called 'Big Brother' they are closely monitored for ANY sign of resistance. There are no private spaces. The main character tries to write a diary and record what he is going through which is a crime. he falls in love which is also a crime. He seeks a way out... Sounds kinda like what's happening but it took a few decades longer than Orwell thought it would.

The solution George Orwell gave, is not a solution at all. The solution is found in the books of Matthew, Daniel, Revelation in the Bible. If you have time, read the whole Bible, or read Revelations carefully. And Matthew 24 and 25. Matthew 24 first few verses tells what is happening in the world at this very moment. We are in verse 13. God has a plan. Only God can and will crush the elite because they have turned their backs on God and has oppressed those multitudes of us seeking God.

To me, the most shocking thing in what he said was predicting that the $3x instinct would be eradicated. In a 1940's context, that would have sounded like such a crazy quirky aside, within a body of ideas that sounded much more tangible, but you're ABSOLUTELY starting to see it happen now. I was in my early 20s (more that 30 years ago) when I read 1984. I was depressed by this book. I said to myself, good thing it is just a book, what a horrible world. I was living in the USSR that time, and even our society was not as terrifying as world that was described in the book. I am hoping teh humanity will avoid it, but some very troubling signs are here

1984 and Animal Farm are genius and prophetic. If you haven’t read The Road to Wigan’s Pier, Down and out in Paris and London, Homage to Catalonia or his essay on the English language I highly recommend them. This is a man who did not sit in a comfortable place and draw conclusions from afar. He went out first handedly to form his views. I have immense respect for him and an even greater sense of awe for his assessment of it.

Funny, I've often thought we were heading in a direction of what's both stories, but when I tried to explain this some people would have meltdowns. These same people obviously had read neither book as a couple went so far as to say 1984 was about the republican party. They had no idea who Stalin was or the purges, neither did they know Goebbels as the propaganda minister of the nazi party, and they thought Hitler's speeches really reached to them when I told them they were from LBJ, Kennedy and Obama. Sad they never learned history and calling them out on this only lead to them spewing the typical shouts of racism and being a nazi. They deserve all of the bad they'll bring on themselves.

I have watched people I really liked and respected turn into pot obsessed morons since it was first legalized as a medical treatment, then for normal use. I've lost friends to what you can call "The feelies" being VR chats and porn. I'm by no means a puritan as I enjoy what I like as well, but to lose contact with friends only to learn later that they are literally living in a car because they were stoned at work too many times, or also that they wouldn't stay off their phone games or porn sites on the internet while at work is pretty sad. But hey, can't go telling people how to live their lives. If you're too stupid to keep your head and know that others aren't going to put up with your idiocy it's not my problem. It's when even employers ignore this in people, or even tolerate it is when things go downhill, and they are, sadly it seems, faster every year.

I've always thought that Huxley had a clearer vision of a direction in which the humanity is going. Orwell thought the oppression would be forced upon us, but Huxley knew that people will embrace their servitude. I believe that Orwell was right when he said it is up to the individuals to decide and not let the world go in this direction, and I believe it is important to stop cherishing comfort and convenience so much as it enslaves us, and start seeking discomfort in our daily lives.

1984 is not about the control it self. But about how you let people control you. It is about the lazy attitude of finding scape goats. About the convincing of ones self that your oppressors are your friends and the people are your enemies. It is about taking the easy way out instead of questioning the ones in power. 1984 is about giving in to ideologies like fascism, leninism, and capitalism. The "The companies/government/party is your friend" mentality. About the idea that at least you will be fine. If you close your eyes enough then you can forget about the rest. About how there is no easy escape. When the easily oppressed minorities, like trans people, gay people, the mentally ill, the physically ill, ethnic minorities, and religious minorities, are stomped out you need to find something else to stomp on. The only two choices you are left with as an individual is to step on the heads of humans for as long as it lasts till you end up under the boot or get stomped on today. We are ruled by lords. But we convince our selves that we are free because the truth burns. Even the people of China think of them selves as free. They are just deeper in to the Stockholm syndrom. Apathy is the go to place when the reality hurts to much.
