Hello Dave, great video, I watched these three and another. They helped me out immensely, I have returned to my RC hobby after 7 years and I have an OS 91 FX, 46 FX, 70 surpass and Super Tigre S2000 that require this treatment. I'm purchasing an Ultrasonic cleaner and I hope that all the parts needed for the 70 surpass are available. I appreciate you uploading these videos. Jim G

Thank you David for your videos. I am learning so much. It was amazing to see how much of the cool power lube was left in the engine. I have never heard of LA's totally awesome cleaner. And who would have thought of using CLR? Great job David. 👍👍

Great video - I enjoyed it, but can I suggest that when replacing the valve collets (keepers) you try using a watch makers tweezers. They would really make that job easier, I think, because they are very precise and you would be easily able to adjust the position of the tricky second collet. Hope that is some help. I am also wondering how those crank shaft main bearings got so rusty. Perhaps some of the fuel by products are corrosive. I'm not sure of the chemistry of burning, or part burning nitro methane. Thanks for producing the video. My interest in engines is in motorcycle engines so i learned a fir bit watching this. That was a very nicely made engine.

So how did the bearings come out, heat the case in an oven first?

CLR is mostly acids which is necessary for mineral deposits, but somewhat overkill for rust. Soaking in diesel, or hot ethanol or mineral spirits works for me. If you really need the acid, typically cheaper to just buy a 5lb bag of citric acid.

Doesn't the stuck piston pin also mean that the pin rotates in the piston holes instead of the top bearing?

Wish you would have shown how you got the bears out; otherwise, great video. Thank you

I have plenty of videos showing bearing removal. You just need to keep watching. I will not repeat the same stuff in every video.

Where can I order bearings for my OS .91 surpass??
@jimg1636 жыл бұрын
Go to Boca Bearing website click rc hobby and RC engines, then you can click drop menu for OS and the engine, they are great bearings at a fair price

Jim, I just had to replace the rusty bearings on a second hand os 46 ax. The rear bearing when cleaned the rust off it had the bearing number stamped on the side of the outer race. The front bearing has the bearing number stamped on the shield.
