Clutch type diff is by far my favorite mod. People often think a torsen or other oem type is the same when they've never tried an aftermarket clutch type but it is night and day difference

I had a Torsen in my Toyota 86, it's pure trash, the car would just randomly slip out at high speed, very dangerous. I went with the Cusco Type RS, best mod I ever did, completely changed the car. Torsen never ever lock, it is a variant of the open type, people refuse to realize this, they end up spending money on other setup changes that will never fix the real problem.

Great video, you really showed the importance of a clutch pack differential. I had a Torsen in my Toyota 86, it's pure trash, the car would just randomly slip out at high speed, very dangerous. Definitely need an oil cooler and a good radiator for track. The 2.5l is nice but you really need to do work on it to make it shine. It's basically a k24a1

@@corwininadsm while you can make close to 200whp with esslinger stage 2s, the cr of the stock 2.5 block is low, around 9.2:1 CR, so it still won't feel as crisp as the stock 2.0. There aren't many builds actually online with built 2.5s but they can make around 230whp with 11.5:1 pistons. One cheap cast option is the GM ecotec pistons which can be found around 100$. Of course it is now an expensive build.

I can't wait for next week! Curious to see how the radiator does.

I didn’t know till two weeks ago that they sell new ND Miata with an open diff if you get the base trim. They should just have an lsd on all models.

I got one for my NA. It's a 35 in & out 2 way diff so I can't wait until it's in the car. I'm glad you brought up about the diff fluid! I was going to use Royal Purple. I'm guessing that wouldn't be a good idea???
@ZentRose2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, this was just recommended by OS Giken. It's supposed to keep the diff quiet and extend the service intervals a bit. The downside was the price... about $50 a bottle.

did you need to adjust the backlash ? or its just drop in ?

Yeah you need to measure and adjust if it’s off. Sometimes you don’t need to adjust.
