Rare films of Osage Native American tribe in and around Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Tulsa, OK in 1920s. 16mm films enhanced. You'll see downtown Pawhuska Oklahoma as it looked in 1920s / 1930s, parades, a circus, leading citizens of Pawhuska, and a football game at Tulsa's McNulty Park featuring the world champion Osage Indians.
This film gives a glimpse into the Osage Nation and how its citizens looked in 1920s. The Osage tribe was once wealthiest in the country. Osage county is where the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon" was filmed, a movie depicting the murders of members of the Osage Tribe by whites who wanted to gain control of Osage wealth, and mineral rights.

I grew up in the 50's . My uncle Fairfax was full blood Osage. He owned his own business and had a real nice brick home in Fort Worth Texas. He used to take me fishing in his boat.

This is amazing footage that thankfully isn’t lost to time. It’s absolutely mind boggling to able to see such a small corner of rural America. Even through the scope of someone’s home movie.

Wonderful to see this. Shinty however is an old Scottish game.

The game with sticks they are playing that the mother called "shinny" looks identical to the game played in Scotland called "shinty". Clearly the same.

I was looking for footage or photos of these Shoan doctors. I hope they do a documentary just on those two brothers.

Interesting film! I was a musician in Tulsa years ago. I knew a couple of musicians that were Osage, named Anthony Lookout and Sean Standingbear. Any relation? Saludos de Argentina!

First Doc Im seen pertaining to the Osage. My father was born 1888 of the Osage tribe, had two brothers. They each left imthe area in 1902, both parents were passed. To the best of my knowledge , they each went a different direction and their paths never crossed again. My father died in 1980 at the age of 92 and he never spoke of his earlier life. I dont even know the names of his brothers, he never told us anything about those years of him growing up.

I grew up in Hominy in Osage county. I had 2 step sisters from Massachusetts. When they came to visit back in ‘70’s, they thought they were going to see most still on horseback & Native Americans still living in lodges!😂
