I went to the Dontonbori area of Osaka Japan and tried out the delicious street food there. This is where takoyaki was orignated and the home to osaka's version of Okonomiyaki also known as japanese pizza.

So you're 17 now. Very young, and healthy, and energetic. What does prevent you from traveling by your own? There are tons of great books about people who traveled across Europe for free, or South America, or Asia... If you want to be a little more independent, it takes a little more effort. But you can travel the world almost for free by... bicycle. I've traveled many months on my bicycle so far it's been the greatest time of my life. You need inspiration? Stop everything you're doing right now and look up Mike Horn on youtube or else. What's the worst that can happen to you; maybe live an adventure? Isn't that what life is for? And believe me, my situation in life was probably way worst than yours. You can't control where you're born, but you can control where you'll live.

Healthy Recipe Channel I have social anxiety too! I was there last year, and I had no issue with the crowds while moving (Japanese people are so polite and observant of personal space, especially in Kyoto), but the lines were torture. You really get crammed together out of necessity. Not touching, but still really close. The food is worth it, though! The places with the longest lines always have the best food. Just practice your breathing techniques, and bring a lot of patience. You will be rewarded with awesome food. :D

There is a Ramen shop perfect for you. It's called Ichiran Ramen. The point of this restaurant chain is to minimize social interactions. The most you see of the waitor are his hands. You order your stuff on a machine and get coupons, sit down on a free place, which is secluded on both sides, and press the order button. They look at your coupons and bring you the soup.

Great video! I lived in Kansai for 14 years, the last 2.5 in Osaka. My kids were born in Nara (about 30 min away by train). Takoyaki is their favorite food in the world. The locals even have takoyaki parties and like to experiment with different ingredients. A lot of the local kushikatsu restaurants let you cook it yourself at your table. Another thing that's really popular is yakiniku (Korean-Japanese BBQ). There's a charcoal or gas grill at your table and they bring the raw ingredients out to you to cook yourselves. There are also vendors that sell it on a skewer along with yakitori. Some of the best food I've ever had was there. You can really see why they call Osaka 'Japan's Kitchen.'

Thank You for a GREAT video. I lived and worked in Japan (Tsukuba) back in the 1980s and my co-workers took me to am Okonomiyaki restaurant that was FANTASTIC! One difference from your video is that we cooked it ourselves. The middle of our table was a giant grill. We were asked what protein or veggies we wanted and then were each brought a bowl of batter with those ingredients. There was plenty of room on the griddle so we could all cook at the same time. In addition to our "pancake" we also had bonito flakes and dried Nori (seaweed) flakes to sprinkle on our food. Definitely a tasty and satisfying meal for anyone visiting Japan! Again, THANK YOU for the video!

Spent the weekend watching all your video's. Now that I'm retired, I've now got nothing but time lol! Every one of your video's is great, and the most noticeable part is that you love what you do. You're personable, easy to listen to, and it feels like were with you sampling all these good eats. Thanks for your video's and I'll check out the new ones as they come. Best wishes!

This just makes me want to travel. Not just to Japan but everywhere. I want to really experience different cultures in their truest form and try all the different foods because I’m willing to try just about every food there is. My mom traveled all throughout Europe when she was younger and I’m so jealous ;-;
