Despite the negative responses this is a good bell for those of us who don't ride through Manhattan or downtown San Francisco. Most of us know the oblivious riders out there who aren't attuned to ANY bell, "on your left", whistle, etc. regardless of the dbs involved. But when you're about to overtake a rider who actually respects other people and doesn't have earbuds in this bell is plenty, and doesn't crowd out brake/shift levers, lights, bike computers etc. But to each his/her own.

What I'd really like is a bell that sounds like a 12-gauge pump being racked...joggers in the bike lanes tend to ignore tinkling.

This bell is cute, and useful in its attachment system but TOTALLY unsuitable for the volume of city roads -- or really any roads. I bought one recently, and cannot hear it myself over even moderate traffic or wind. So you can imagine how folks in cars would hear it. Er, not at all.

I can't imagine any bell being loud enough for people in cars to hear. Unless you got an air horn for a bell. People have the AC on radio on, complaining kids, all combined with the fact that modern cars have excellent exterior sound deadening. I would expect any car to hear any bell.

Took me two seconds to know this bell is crap and made to fail-ware. How? Spring will rust and pop the hammer off in a few months. The spring will also bend to a point where it no longer allows the hammer to hit the bell. Useless made to fail-ware.
