Hey Martina. I used to be a subscriber to Eat Your Kimchi/Sushi. It was tough to watch what happened to you guys, and I had to take a break for a while, but I'm so happy to see you flourishing now. I have a toddler and a newborn, and I'm dealing with a lot of difficult things in my life right now. I just want to thank you for taking me away from all of that for just a few minutes and for giving me hope that you can thrive after very hard times. 💕

@@danbrand2455 I see what you are saying, and I agree that what I may be going through is not nearly as bad as others. This thought does help me to be thankful and empathize with those in other countries who experience even more pain. However, not all pain is perceived the same. For one, infidelity might be harder for them than war that goes on. Or visa versa. While I understand your sentiment, I think you should find empathy in you heart for folks going through any kind of turmoil.

this may sound very silly but I would love it if you created a "fashion" tour guide. More so, what types of clothing is best for certain aspects of the year. For example, where I live in the DMV because of the scorching heat and humidity, we just wear crop tops and shorts in the summer---no one bats an eye it's so hot. Yet, I know in Japan, it's very much a different culture. So, that's my silly request :)

Hi, I just want to make it clear that takoyaki is NOT topped with teriyaki sauce, but with a type of Japanese worcester sauce ウスターソース (Usutā sōsu). It is similar to tonkatsu sauce and okonomiyaki sauce. These "worcester"-type sauces can include ingredients like fish sauce, tomatoes, prunes, dates, apples, lemon juice, carrots, onions, malt vinegar, yeast, and vegetable and fruit purees that are cooked down in a pot for a long time. On the other hand, Teriyaki sauces are used as a glaze where foods are broiled or grilled with a mix of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar.
@KingKogi2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the all this excellent info! I hope others can read your detailed comment! Truthfully, I also knew this, but it’s quite hard to explain “flavours” to people who haven’t tasted something before, so I try to compare a similar taste that one might have encountered. Teriyaki sauce in other countries is quite sweet and not quite like any sauce I’ve had in Japan, but I certainly know most people haven’t tried ウスターsauce before, so I felt like teriyaki flavour might be the closest. I contemplated “Bulldog” sauce as a comparison but also wasn’t sure if it was popular enough. Either way, thanks for the info 🙇🏼♀️

@@KingKogi I agree with this sentiment! Not everyone is familiar with Japanese flavors. It may seem so popular in most places that we take for granted that some people may not even have seen takoyaki more so tasted it before. Buddhism is one of Japan's main religions, so there is actually long history of vegan cuisine in Japan! Just look for "Shōjin ryōri", Buddhist cuisine, temple cuisine, ascetic cuisine, or devotion cuisine. You are right that many otherwise vegan dishes outside of shoujin ryouri are often prepared with seafood in some way.
