I love the message of not letting the negative things in life spoil the things you love. After my 4yr relationship ended there were so many things that hurt because they reminded me of him: places, music, movies, tv shows... it took a few years but I made a conscious choice to re-learn how to love them with new associations that didnt include him. It was very empowering. Like I took my life back. I reccommend anyone struggling with the same thing to do the same. It hurts but its worth it

I LOVE the thumbnail for this video I'm so happy to see that you revisited Bucheon - I've been following you since then! When I moved to Korea I learned pretty much everything about what to expect from you. Me and my EPIK friends used to joke that our first homes in Korea were our 'Korean Hometowns' - I ended up in Miryang way down in the south between Daegu and Busan and I still introduce it to people like "WE are famous for apples, dweji gukbap and the Miryang Arirang!" as though I'm actually from there myself. Miryang gets a pretty bad rap, but I'll defend it down to the ground. I left Korea 6 years ago and also moved on to where I really wanted to live, but there's something about Korea that feels so... homely? I don't really know how to describe it, it's like a piece of my soul was left there. Korean food is as comforting as the food I ate growing up, and it feels very familiar even after being away for a while. I'm so glad you had a nice time revisiting old memories! I felt like I was sharing those with you from all those years ago and got all nostalgic too. Thanks for making this video!

Glad you liked the thumbnail haha decided to go off the rails with it. Yeah I know what you mean; even though all types of things happened in Korea, I still feel like it is home. It was my first time living as an adult, 24 years old when I arrived, and it was for 8 years of my life in Korea. It really shaped me.

When I first saw your videos in about 2014, I was just graduating high school and going to my local community college. I’ve since been to Korea about six times now and even my husband is from South Korea. Without watching your videos my life would look a lot different than it does today. So thank you.For everything.

You're so amazing!! Honestly, after I reached around 32 I started finding it a bit more difficult to keep up with the ever changing technology. @@JadeCanada237 I agree, the moment we give up, we age I think. I have chronic pain too, so I can understand some of your struggles. I also had it for most of my tertiary education. You get it for real, must have been a lot of mixed emotions for you. It is WAY easier to be sad than to be happy, but it feels much better to be happy hahah so it's a tricky fight against those memories that want to drag you down. Martina, from the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you. I've been watching you since 2015. I had just moved from my hometown of London to Amsterdam while still mourning my father's recent passing. Watching your videos made me laugh at a time when nothing felt right. You are an amazing person and your content has truly made such a difference in my life, both then and now. Wishing you love and peace 💖

It was great watching you get lost in the nostalgia. Your love for Bucheon shines through. I just did a memory lane walk through Tokyo this past summer, and it was just wild walking through places that used to be my everyday life. I miss it so much.

What a blast from the past! Being part of your adventures for over a decade now it's so nice to go back to the beginning and seeing little GREEN(!) Spudgy again.

Martina, this video was simply magical. ✨The nostalgia and pure joy on your face visiting your old spots was amazing. You’ve always done such an amazing job at documenting your adventures and in a way, they felt like my old spots you were revisiting too. I was fighting back tears big time when you revisited the school. (It was wild to me that I was in high school when you were teaching and now I’m in my thirties. Haha time flies!) Thanks for making this, for making living abroad seem less scary, and making simple things in life seem like they were touched by magic. I hope you have an awesome day! ✨✨✨

OG EYK viewer here. Martina introduced me to South Korea and K-pop… so glad she is making new memories! Did you meet up with any old friends or students? Lee Hi?!? RIP Spudgy… I still have the CD with your original songs and Spudgy song!

My first ever EYK video was the washing machine one. I was teaching ESL level 1 in the US for the first time. It made me feel seen. Seeing you back in your old stomping grounds makes my heart happy. Thanks for the memories!

This video feels like returning to my inner child. I used to watch your videos back when you lived in Bucheon and it made me want to move to Korea one day. 13 or so years later, I now live in Seoul and work in a lovely school. So much of the things you taught and talked about in your videos I carry with me now. I'd love to visit bucheon at some point

I haven’t watched your channel in awhile thanks to my ADHD making KZbin hard, but I’m glad this is what I came back to. Your editing skills have stayed TOP notch and your laugh has so much life!! You are clearly so genuine and these memories were beautiful. I am glad you never let life’s bumps get in the way of your happiness or love for your city. Now I wanna visit Bucheon!!!

Seeing you get emotional about those days made me cry. But love what you said about not focusing on the negative things and only on the good things. I know you're in a completely different place in your life now which is great but I will always look back fondly on those EYK days - donating for the EYK Studio, sending fanmail to Korea, and dragging my older brother to your meetup in Santa Monica. I lost my older brother a few months ago and even though EYK ended, I'll always remember that as one of the things I shared with my brother. Thank you for this video!

So nice that you came back to visit the original place where your story of Korea started. Thank you for sharing. The music announcing the oncoming arrival of a train at 1:46 was very comforting though. If you have a chance, please visit Daejeon! It's a brilliant city and I am really happy here.

EYK taught me to see different cultures with open hearth and mind! I used to live in India during ur EYK time and whenever I was low, I used to put on an EYK video, and u could make me feel good abt everything I was experiencing. Watching this video is the sweetest gift I got! Thank u sooo much!

Wow this was like visiting an old friend but that old friend is a city that I’ve never been to but have vicariously gotten to know cuz of you. Thanks for allowing that privilege, can’t wait to one day actually visit. Safe travels Martina!
