all the morals i can find: *"Never Give Up"* (she kept trying to go in the cocoon) *"Its okay to take others help"* (dont be too much independent) *"Dont judge"* (she was overweight but turned out pretty) *"Helping others is a good deed"* (strangers helped her) *"dont expect return when you do good to someone"* (she did not pay back [died before possible]) *"Dont rely on anyone"* (they didnt help again and walked away) *"this world is cruel"* (the bird) *"Dont celebrate blindly and keep your eyes open"* (she was enjoying her flight but got snatched unaware) *"work hard but most importantly, work smart!"* (she kept pushing in with no technique until the bugs helped), (They hung the cocoon in a vulnerable place) I found more: *"Predators dont care about their pray"* (Its the circle of life) *"Keep moving forward but watch your back!"* (she was doing so as a caterpillar but not as a butterfly) _thank you for reading_

Moral : There are processes and stages to follow in every aspect of life. As a Caterpillar it wasn't her time yet but yet she took over the cocoon of the other carterpillar in the process of becoming a butterfly and with the help of the two bugs they fit her in. She hatched so beautiful but was eaten because she was immature. The bugs didn't care as they were just there to help out. Well I'm just thinking

Gunārs Stepiņš Well it certainly would give them some things to think about: Is it better to reach your goals with the help of your friends only to be crushed in the end, or live in constant fear of being crushed along with them? Was this a depressing tale or a comedy? Is there even a villain in this? Should they be sad or happy for the bug who was able to turn beatifull only to be eaten by the bird? It didn't show helping others is useless, it shows that they were rewarded with the sight of something beautiful that nobody else would ever get to see. By the way, you're the one who assumed this was for kids; there was no specific statement that it was.
@animaternoob79419 жыл бұрын
Of course, I could be overthinking this entirely. Its still a funny little animated short, and doesn't need to have a message for kids.

Gunārs Stepiņš Just because its a "cartoon" it doesnt mean that it is for kids. I know plenty of 3D-Animations, Cartoons, Animes etc that are not really made for kids. Also, often the humor ist meant to be understood by grown-ups. ... I had to laugh at the end :P

I like how the small orange bug reacts at the end. He's all like "well that's that" and immediately leaves :D. Poor butterfly though...she was too distracted by her new transformation that she became unaware of her surroundings. It's her fault she gets swept up by the bird. Before, she knew when the bird was around and would hide, but after she transforms she clearly doesn't pay attention that the bird is near by.

While I didn't like the ending it was actually exactly what I needed to watch today. I was telling a friend just an hour ago that my efforts at helping others seldom produces a happy ending. The take home point for me is, "Stop expecting happy endings." They were still nice bugs for helping out and the caterpillar did turn into a butterfly and get to fly for a moment. If this were a movie about a very hungry bird, it would be a happy ending. Sometimes it's all in the perspective. I guess we just keep doing good and consider that there is a bigger picture we don't always see.

Suffering and fighting to help someone transform into their fully developed selves, only to watch them disappear at the moment of success. It’s about the sacrifice and willingness to help; not the result.

Everything has an end. It doesn't matter how beautiful. What matters is the positive impact that you leave behind on everybody else.
@FallenAeon018 жыл бұрын
Could have made it a cyclic process, where in the end you animated a new caterpillar climbing over the rock to find that same cocoon, just as the first one did. Which would've also added the cycle of unknowing life alongside the moral or the story.

Somebody please help me? I don't usually post comments but I'm desperate. I'm trying to find an old animated short film but it seems to be nowhere (may have been taken down). I THINK it was French. It was about these people that were born from cocoons that fell from trees. I remember the main character having green skin (all of these details keep leading me back to the video I'm commenting on 😓). These people had magical gems in their foreheads that let them turn into the next generation of trees. The plot is that the main character (green dude) falls in love with a cocoon woman but she rejects him because he gets injured and his gem falls off his forehead. She goes and becomes a tree with someone else. While the main character is in mourning, some centipede/snake monster starts attacking the trees and eating the cocoons. MC fights off the monster using his gem as a knife. The next generation is born and a new lady falls in love with MC. He tries to reject her because he can't become a tree with her. So she takes her gem out of her head and now they're free to roam around holding hands forever. It's a weird animation (as most of them are) but it's one of my favorites and I miss it dearly! I think it had a really simple name like "Love" or "Cocoon" but I just can't find it. Thank you very, very much for reading. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
