Oscar is my favorite pianist always has been. I had not ever heard this and I am really blown away by this as I am studying classical now after years of jazz. He literally sounds like 3 guys playing the piano on this first piece. 3

If you watch OP & Andre Previn video, Previn brought up that some musicians take up classical things and play jazz on them. OP shook his head and said, "It's false." I am sure if he'd ever done it, let alone have a recording, he would have owned up to doing so. So, my conclusion is it can't be OP.

I have seen jazz pianists improvise on Chopin and Bach etc. I love Oscar, but I needed clarification on what he meant-unless he meant a classical pianist improvising on it. I've seen jazz musicians improvise on classics.

This is of course absolutely not Oscar... Besides this I personally met him in 96 for an interview in the mood a young pianist (me) meet his mentor... And during this interview he talked about musician like Keith Jarrett who did sometime classic and sometime jazz and he clearly was against this kind of melting pot... I personally disagreed whis that (I did a Jazz'in Chopin recording...!) but of course I kept this for me... And by the way this is a good version...

His tone is completely different from Oscar's. Can't you hear? How could you be so deaf to being a musician?
@user-xv6zv6ej1w Жыл бұрын
This sounds like it was played at half-speed while being recorded, then the recording was sped up to double playback speed. No human pianist could play the runs and scales this cleanly at this speed; the bass is always an octave higher than a bass should be; the piano sounds tinny and distorted. Good try, but I say fraud. It's not Oscar Peterson, although the pianist managed to include a number of Peterson mannerisms and cliches.
@Soundofmusic777 Жыл бұрын
You are wrong. The speed is very realistic, and OP had the agility to keep up with it. You have to be a good musician yourself to be able to understand.
