Oscar this is a great mentalist trick, I tried it several times after learning it and it works each time. I also tried with three groups of cards using the pre-arranged of 2-4-6 of hearts and although the same concept works it does not have the same “wow-effect” as when you use the 5 groups. Thanks for sharing great content!!
@DL-kc8fc10 ай бұрын
For 3x3 cards (three viewers) you do not have to determine the identification card. You give any 3 cards to each viewer (the viewer can choose them from the package). Viewers remember one of them and then gradually, preferably from left to right (from your side), viewers put one card on the package that you hold in your hand (you do not need a table). Again (left right) the second card and the last third card from all from left to right - (direction from left to right must be followed). Best moving your hand that holds the package of other cards, so another viewer cannot hand over his card earlier. The viewer has the illusion that he mixed them with other viewers. You make fake mixing, take 3 top cards and create a fan that show the audience (value to the viewers card). The viewer "left" says he sees his card. You already know it's the first card from the left. The other three make a fan and viewers state that they do not see their card. You no longer have to show the last three cards in the fan, because you know that more than 9 cards are not in the game, so the viewer number 2 has the middle card (in the imaginary fan) and the viewer number 3 has the right card. In this trick you don't see cards at all - it's all directed by the viewer. Wow effect for 3x3 cards is great in this design, not with the principle for 5x5.
@jaimealberto13807 ай бұрын
This effect (with 5 cards) does not work if 1, 2 or 3 spectators choose the card you have as the key card from their pile, so there is a high chance of failing because you cannot prevent them from choosing said key cards)

I kinda understand so I'll explain it briefly: After the cards are gathered at the end, WLOG(Without loss of generality), let's say the first 5 cards are ABCDE. These are the choices presented to a spectator. When the cards are dealt out, you get A B C D E and of course, the other 20 cards. That's why since one of them is your key card, you automatically know its row. Then when they tell you which column it is, you know their card.
@DETERMINOLOGY2 жыл бұрын

I just performed the trick once and immediately understood how it works. Essentially when you distribute the cards one by one into five piles, each original set will all be in the same place in each distrubution. So if the 2♡ is in the 1st row, all of the original cards from 2♡'s pile will be in the same row. If the 6♡ is in the third row, then all of the cards from the 6♡ set will be in the third row. The spectator chooses what column, and the heart chooses the Row. This trick is genius!
@billlafay30842 жыл бұрын
Oscar. In the performance, after the spec selected a card and mixed their packet, you picked up the individual packets. This can be in any order, ok. But the pack of 25 cards cannot be shuffled again because the key card can be shifted. This will not work. Your tutorial is ok. Just don't shuffle the cards after you pick up the spec's packets. Great job. You are a wonderful tutor.

I see how this works. Look at each spectator's cards. All of their cards are in the same position going across. For example, spectator #2 had 5S JS 4H QC AC. Now look at the 5 stacks at the end. Those 5 cards are all in the 4th position. As long as you don't shuffle them before laying them down, and you go straight across, each player's cards will be in the same position in the stacks at the end. Genius!!!
@jonathanleeming68862 жыл бұрын
But he *did* shuffle them, so this theory doesn’t work….?
@brianhsu_hsu2 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanleeming6886 You could only shuffle each pile independently like 8:29. But once you start to stack them up like 8:45, you cannot shuffle anymore, otherwise this trick will fail. And if you look 7:53 ~ 8:21 closely and take a note of all cards in each pile, you will notice that is corresponding to each row in 9:29. That's why you need to remember the "key card", it indicates the row of player's card, and the column of that card will be pointed out by spectator.

This is really cool! The only thing I don't understand is, at 2:42, when you shuffle multiple stacks of 5, how does that not throw off the whole stacking? I can see shuffling each stack of 5 individually would be fine, but at 2:42, when you have 3 stacks in your hand and you shuffle, wouldn't that throw off the stack? Wouldn't it be possible for you to then have the 10H, 8H, and 6H all in a row (theoretically)?

Think of it in terms of rows and columns. Each row has all of the cards of each of the original 5 stacks including the identitying heart card . Because each stack was shuffled individually, the chosen card can appear in any column, but it will always appear in the original row. For example, the two of hearts was assigned to the first player. When they chose the fifth column , their chosen card had to be in the same row as their assigned card and thus had to be the 10 of clubs...

The trick doesn’t work… I just tired a dozen times and it doesn’t work as the video. Once the prospects pick their cards and then mixes them after, the trick gets ruined… so I’m clueless how he made this work.
@clarkkentsuperman59112 жыл бұрын
@@kyzersoze.musicology if you do it correctly and memorize which card is assigned to each player, it can't not work. : You have five piles each pile is identified by one card that you already know. (The card that you start each pile with) The person is picking one card from the five piles. When you lay the cards out , you are creating columns and rows . Each row represents every card of one of the five piles. Their chosen card stays in the row of the card that you assigned to them and their pile.. When they pick a column that their card is in ,you need only to match it with the row that their assigned card is in. If they pick the fifth column and their assigned the two of hearts, for example, and they have chosen the 8 of spades . The 2'of hearts and 8 of spades are going to be in the same row. They may end up in any column,but will always be in the same row. Let's say that the 2 is in the first column and the 8 is in the fifth. When the person who was assigned the 2 ,picks If the fifth column , you already know which row is theirs, so whichever card is in the fifth column of that row ,has to be theirs..

@@kyzersoze.musicology make sure that you deal the face-up piles from the top of the deck, and put one card into each pile in order (as opposed to dealing out each pile in its entirety, before moving on to the next). Wow, this is really great! It could even be called a "magicians fooler", because there are some moments in the routine which make magicians think: "Ah, I know the principle." But in the end of the day they probably won´t be able to explain or copy it. And it is even quite easy to set up this effect in front of the spectators, if you think a little bit about it. If you can do perfect faro shuffle, you can cut flawlessly 26 cards and that way you can also cut 25 cards just as easily too. So I'd do first those shuffles and false cuts, then I would either lift up 25 cards myself or do a riffle force to get 25 cards and give them the top pile by using magician's force because I think it needs to be more random than just saying out loud that there needs to be exactly five rows of five cards. Then I would ask them to deal into five piles themselves to get them involved and after they've dealt the first five cards I tell them that they can even shuffle and keep dealing. I think it might even work better than your way.

Using a deck of 52 cards you can do it with groups from 1 to 7. All you have to do is to match the number of cards in each pile to the number of spectators: 1 spectator: one pile of one card 2 spectators: two piles of two cards 3 spectators: three piles of three cards and so on. The problem is, with one pile of one card it''s trivial. Two piles of two cards are still very obvious. From three cards onward it is possible, but it depends on the audience how easy they can be fooled. Six and seven makes it hard for the magician. With a special deck you can go as high as you want, but the more cards you use the longer the performance will take. And counting hundred piles of hundred cards each make the audience very tired sooner or later. 😜

In the performance I noticed at 2:42 when you are picking up the first three piles you said that "they can even be mixed up even more like this", If that is an actual shuffle, it would ruin the order. In your explanation, however, you do not do this shuffle. Is this a correct assumption? I tried it with a small shuffle after picking up the first three piles and the trick did not work. I believe that the piles can be picked up in any order, but not shuffled at that time. Again, is this correct?

Hey Oscar I tried stacking the 5 piles in many ways after the spectators pick the card except they won't work if I don't do it the same way you did. so if you watched this video make sure to stack the cards the same way Oscar does after the spectators pick their cards.

Yes looks like he made a mistake ... after they choose he thoroughly mixes them, but in the 2nd half he just stacks them. Does t work first way ... did you figure out how it still worked for him?
