Wonderful! That freight set with Polly was my first electric model train, following after a couple of clockwork locos.

The Freightmaster set - my first train set for my birthday in October 1969. Great to see it in the catalogue - the wagons hadn't changed in 1969 but the class 31 was blue rather than green - and the rest they say is just history. Euan

Hi Osacr, a lovely layout and brings back my childhood. I did at a later date acquire a second hand EM2 in green, I now so wish I had kept it with my TH trains!

Another great video Oscar. thank you. I have always loved the EM2, my late father bought one in 1970, and we still have it. Since then we have acquired several additional secondhand variants, and more recently, the Heljan offering, but the Tri-ang EM2 still holds up today. On the Battle Space front, the Turbo car is my favourite, quite mad and barely controllable, but what fun.

Good morning Claire, terrific to hear about your collection of EM2's I've been looking at the Heljan versions online recently, they are very fine looking models. I wonder how the Turbo car would deal with inclines on my layout! Thanks again for watching Oscar

Hello again, just had a look at my EM2 CKD R388 instructions and it puts the roof pickup attached using the front legs of the pantograph. However it doesn’t seem to matter as your EM2 runs just fine anyway!

Excellent video. I have a blue Electra numbered E27000. I have seen one other with this number and I think a catalogue shows this variant but they seem to be very rare.
@oscarpaisley5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Ian, from what I've read it appears with this number right at the end of its life in the catalogue. And as you say they are quite hard to find. I have an example running in this earlier video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goTOkGeIpdicoKs Thanks for watching. Oscar

The EM2 was a good model in it's day, I run the Heljan versions today, they are nowhere near as robust. Another interesting loco was E3001, I have both the Hornby Dublo and Triang Hornby version, not their best model but very significant as it bridged the Hornby Dublo to Traing Hornby transition. I saw the original mold tool for it at Llangollen when Dapol had a factory there. I enjoyed the video, nice to see the older locos in such good condition.

Thanks David glad you enjoyed the video. Those photographs are very fragile, unfortunately. And have become very had to find now. I believe that for a brief period about 10 years ago someone was making reproductions. But sadly no longer. Oscar

Good morning, The Heljan models certainly do look good and you seem to get a great deal for the money. The Tri-ang models often show up on that well know auction site. But good one are often about the same price as some of the Heljan models. Thanks for watching. Oscar

Great video. The maker's plate on the side of the locomotive is quite legible with a magnifying glass, brilliant level of detail for the time, for what is very much an electric box on wheels its still a very attractive locomotive, I've just acquired a green Aurora CKD in need of some restoration to go with the blue Electra. Pandora still sought... I would love to see you do a video with BattleSpace, one of your carpet railway setups will allow for launches but might tax your camera skills to get the flights of helicopter, satellite or plane. Helicopter to Ride of the Valkyries perhaps:-)
@oscarpaisley5 жыл бұрын
Good evening Andrew, sound like a great collection you have. I'm sure Pandora will show up. Definitely limited launch capability on the layout at present. As you point out trying to capture these items in motion is problematic. I'm also not sure whether it is a great idea as the risk of damage to the various craft is quite high if they make contact with anything whilst at speed. What's needed is an empty sports hall perhaps. Thanks for watching. Oscar

Always wondered why the roof fixing screw on EM2 was not hidden as R357, bottom to top rather than top to bottom?
@oscarpaisley4 жыл бұрын
Good morning, perhaps it was just evolution in there design processes over the years many of the early Tri-ang models had very visible fixing screws in there tops. Thanks for watching. Oscar

Hi Oscar, Thank you for the video. I love these old Tri-ang models so much. I assume they used the same weights as in the steam tenders? I've seen replacement weights available on Ebay. Might be worth looking into replacing the weights in those carriages to insure smooth running over all those points and crossings. If nothing else, the weights should help with the rocking effects when going over the points and crossovers. Lisa
@oscarpaisley5 жыл бұрын
good evening Lisa, I think you may be right about the weights being used in the tendrs and I think they would be better runners with a little extra weight. Thanks again for watching. Oscar
@lisalewis92375 жыл бұрын
@@oscarpaisley Hi Oscar, I am not 100% which weight type is used in those particular coaches. I see both tender and passenger carriage weights listed on Ebay. They ain't expensive, but some of them would need the rust cleaned up. Might make for an interesting video watching them being fitted. Lisa

Thankyou Oscar. Just an aside....if you study the painting on front cover (M7) there is a strange mistake with the trackwork. I have wondered how Mr Cuneo could have made this mistake given his knowledge.
@oscarpaisley5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Herb, I think I see what you mean. I've just spent 10 minutes staring at the picture. It does make you think. My knowledge of prototypes and track work is not what it should be. I suppose we all make mistakes from time to time. And possibly It has to be put down to artistic licence. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave this great comment. Oscar

Great video yet again. What controller do you use.
@oscarpaisley5 жыл бұрын
Good morning John, great to hear you enjoyed the video. The controllers I have on the layout at present are H&M clippers for each lines and an H&M Multipack slave unit for the turntable. Also, I have a handheld H&M CUI with along cable that can be plugged in at the far end of the layout to control any of the lines or overhead. Thanks for watching. Oscar
