To me, ''12 Years a Slave'' is an instant classic. It will be remembered for years and years along with others Best Picture winners. The movie has its flaws, but the message is so powerful and touching and the performances are just WOW! This movie is about the triumph of the human condition. I bought and read the book! I'm just sad that ''The Wolf of Wall Street'' and ''Nebraska'' didn't win nothing.
@kicktheintolerantassesh438510 жыл бұрын
In my opinion 12YAS was a very very good movie but last years Django Unchained was much better when I think of movies about slavery! "Gravity" should have won! It is masterfully directed and Sandra Bullock is amazing! This movie revolutionized the world of visual effects and I think this will be more remembered! But I agree with you that "The Wolf of Wall Street" got snubbed! I thought that at least Terence Winter would get an Oscar for his brilliant screenplay! But hey that's just my opinion and it mustn't be the opion of someone else! ;-)
@jeffersonborges993210 жыл бұрын
Luke Gert I think both movies will be remembered! Gravity as you said for the revolution and innovation in visual effects and its deeper meaning about existence, space, etc! (I love the claustrophobic soundtrack from Steven Price!) and 12 Years a Slave for the powerful, beautiful and at the same time sad and tragic story. Anyway, both movies, in my opinion, will remain as classics and masterpieces to the next generations! :D

What an inredible line up and 12 Years A Slave definitely deserved this win. It was a powerful movie. It taps the very core of everyone who'll watch it. It certainly a picture that left a mark in history.

Love the little jump for joy Steve does near the end. So cute & candid.

This movie. I didn't know what the slave trade was all about. I mean I was taught at school in india, but had almost forgotten. Thanks to this movie for reminding me of how cruel the world can be. And how hard it is to make it beautiful. Black lives matter.

Clearly won because the story was brilliantly told, emotional and all round was perfectly executed. Completely deserved it

I was really happy to see this film win. It may not be the easiest film to sit through given the subject matter, but it is a truly masterful film.

Was Brad Pitt filming fury while he won the award? He has the same hair cut as in the movie..stupid question but just want reassurance lol
@julian11274 жыл бұрын
Probably, Fury was finishing being filmed in 2014, and this ceremony took place then.

You know a video is good when Will Smith and Brad Pitt are the hosts of 12 Years a Slave being the ultimate winner of the Best Picture award along with Beauty and the Beast in the 1990s and Up in the 2000s.

Don't get me wrong, I love Steve McQueen - but did anyone else find the strange juxtaposition of him making his dedication to the 21,000,000 people still enslaved today and then 7 seconds later him jumping around hugging a group of 21 multimillionaires? #foodforthought
