This didn't compensate the fact that Star Wars didn't win any of the five awards. Especially visual effects. There were 4 columns of visual effects names in the credits of the movie. So many people sacrificed their time and energy for this. Say what you will about TFA, but there is no denying that so much was put into it for near perfect execution in visuals.

That's the reason why I began to hate the Oscars so much. For a movie that a hundred over people had sacrificed their lives for so long to make one epic movie with special effects, they all get nothing in return. How was Ex Machina awesome anyway? It doesn't make any sense. Somehow, I felt like there was shame to the Oscars than before.
@joshuamillard83436 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but in your description of why you hate star wars not getting an Oscar, if the roles were reversed, could the same argument not be made about ex machina? Every movie has tons of people working on it, and lots have special effects, star wars isn't unique in that

Morriconne totally deserved the win, it keeps everything so alive despite the claustrophobic feel of Hateful Eight. It sets a grim tone as early as the opening credits. What he did in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly was also iconic and timeless. Easily one of my favourite movie composers of all time.
@ambergris57056 жыл бұрын
Well, everybody was waiting for Leo to get his first Oscar that night, but everyone had to acknowledge too that Morricone waited two times longer than Leo to receive one, despite being a real legend. So, he deserved it more than anyone else. And I'm sure Williams was happy to give up this Oscar to his friend, knowing he already had a lot of them... By the way, if you look at the audience when Morricone received his Oscar, you know that it was was something special : it was a general standing ovation, and you could feel the emotion of so many people. That was a truly great moment.

I like the idea of BB8's personality being the little child that has to sit between the bickering of C3-PO and R2D2. Like when they were walking away and C3-PO was looking at the cardboard statue, BB8 looks at R2D2 leaving, looks at C3-PO, then at R2D2, Then at C3-PO, then speedily "runs" to follow R2D2, and THEN C3-PO notices them leaving.
