I just wanted to thank you for all of the work you do. I ran into your KZbin channel and then purchased the industrial techno course. I still feel like I can't produce shit, but I had virtually 0 experience before and you're one of a very few people out there that make complicated things sounds not overwhelming, which makes me feel like I'm getting there. Keep it on!

I find your video very interesting. I have never actually thought about it this way, except to put my main good loop in the middle. This concept is very brilliant to avoid making boring tracks. I find that arrangement is crucial and it's the area I struggle the most. Thanks good work!

I recently went to a rave party in a a small hall, I thought it was gonna be mediocre and boy was i wrong. I was so blown by how these guys were playing, . I never even in the past heard a dj keep the energy and momentum so perfectly balanced, no dull moments yea I'll say that again no dull moments not one, no one left the people that kept coming in staying and didn't leave everybody was dancing or moving. I could help to think very soon someone with big pockets is gonna pick these guys up and offer them a contract.

Perfect inspiration cooked down to the point where I need it! I always find myself with a really nice 4 bar groove, but I'm unable to write a good story without either killing the groove or overdoing it with tons of layers. If you have more knowledge or inspiration about tomb and percussive heavy but minimal grooves that would be very welcomed. Keep up the good work ma man

Dear Oscar. Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I have not finished a single track during the last 3 years but I created around 150 track ideas during these 3 years where around 10%-15% of them could be real bangers. I produce music since 1998 but the older I become, the less tracks I finish. I don‘t know if there is a fear to fail with the arrangement or it is just boring to arrange the idea to a full track. I love creating new ideas so I never start arranging… is anyone in the same situation? Whenever I listen to techno tracks I often think, this arrangement is so simple. Why I don‘t finish my last track idea like this one?

The most important thing that you need to remember is that if you make dance music, you track will be played only for certain amount of time. A dj uses around 3 minutes max from your track before another track is mixed in. So first for techno in particular, dj's want to smoothly mix a track in and out and that will leave you with approx 1.5 min mix in part en 1.5 min mix out part. Between those minutes that's the place where your main focus must be. Dj music is not music you listen often from the first second to the last but you mainly will hear it between mixes. A lot of djs who produce dance music do not much more in the first 1.5 minutes then just starting with almost full beat. Introducing hat loops and an upcoming sound and then a break with an introducing sound, low end cut and then come back with the beat and build it up again until the break and then just start over with rearrangend parts until the end. While producers try to keep the song in such a way that it's made so that you can listen to many variations and still keep.that format running.

This is great. I love the diagram. Subscribed! I actually do this in my Live DAW. I color code each phrase up in the top of the project and add notes like (Cut Kick, Add chords, open ARP filter, etc). I'd love to see a follow up video where you show your project alongside the diagram (and any changes you made during execution). Bonus: if you show us the automations you use to create the variation/separation in those phrases.

Thank you for putting the complete track up on SoundCloud. I can hear all the tools you applied. Super helpful. To my ear, it sounds like the tools and the structure are operating at a longer time scale (16 bars) than the groove (1 bar). Maybe that's the "hypnotic" vibe you are going for, but I wonder what it would feel like if your groove were a full 16 bars.
@OscarUnderdog3 ай бұрын
Yeah! The core of this track is a polymetered lead, i think 7/16th notes long, so the rhythmic cell is close to half a bar, and then other longer devices are put on top.

Breaking the composition into ten and then positioning the break at the in the 6th block makes me really interested in the relationship of that particular dynamic shift with respect to the golden ration (which falls at about 61%) which is supposed to be very pleasing to our pattern loving brains, and how that setup for the break puts the drop on the second half of the section, whereas if you shifted it to the 7th block, starts the break on the section. I also wonder how that sort of perception of a golden ration is shifted when a track is mixed with other tracks.
