Just built one of these this morning. It was amazingly easy to do. The frame I had was a little different; just had to cut two posts off the top and pop tge plastic caps into their new place. It was like 30 minutes of work.

Price is about right because of availability. 82 is probably the worst pack I’ve ever had on my back. You have very valid points and I respect that.

82 Was awful because of the weirdly sized frame that seemed never to fit regardless of the users size, the lack of a chest strap, and crap hip belt. I think a lot of these things are fixable as the actual bag system is not so terrible. Found it worked better with armor than the CTS, though, not as good as the 64 of course.

Two reasons you shouldn't use the 82 Pattern Ruck: 1-if you can't hand pick it. These things are used hard and put away wet. 2-if you are under the illusion that you will find an original para frame for a song (if you do grab it). Personally I haven't found a good frame that I like in almost ten years of looking but like an idiot missed out on a small batch of para frames that I decided to leave for collectors like an idiot. Oh well, my old Canadian alluminium packboard is pretty versatile as well.

Having too much fun with the various other rucks I have, especially an old folding frame marked only France coupled with the Russian Veshmeshok. Very versatile and not quit the same load bearing ability as the 82 but pretty good gear.

Fuck'n eh! Thanx for the info! I use the shoulder harness from a large MOLLE bag (those huge one's with the frame) with mine. Totally frameless, but I still find it to be bulky though. I use a MOLLE 2 bag now though, much lighter.

Thanks for the help I also joined your FB page, because my area lost it's only high quality surplus store. They were always pretty expensive anyway. I'm gonna need one of these packs! I've been looking for a decent frame pack, and I LOVE the idea of having the Bottom open for sleeping bags, pads etc...

Tell doesn’t advertise this but his is a vet who served with honour. He’s not promoting combat skills but outdoors skills. He’s showing you how to take a common pack and make it more useable for bushcraft and weekend backpack. On a side note I bet he would crush you on a trail. he commonly hikes with 45 pounds and hikes 12 km in a couple hours. But as keyboard warriors I bet you have a hard time touching your toes
