The gate thing at 4:30 is to separate the domestic terminal from the international terminal. As Norway is not part of EU customs union (but in EU passport union called Schengen) you have to go thru customs upon arrival. In Europe passport and customs (goods and bagage) are 2 separated controls. Norway chosed to opt out of the goods part, but remains in EUs passport union/ area. So instead of manning the post with a human (which is expensive) they have installed oneway gates to prevent people from going the wrong way and escape customs control.

Well I know it’s not part of the EU 👍🏻, that’s an interesting way of doing that, and by that I mean, it’s funny so many things in life have funny things like this, and all because of taxes.
