Osmo Mobile 2 - Balancing Phone

The instructions were a little confusing, so here is a short video explaining how to balance a phone in the gimbal.

Sooo true! You almost couldn't write instructions with less useful info if you tried! lol And then some of the other videos didn't mention how the two side of the clamp move independently so that you know how to get the tilt axis correct. Cheers to the Osmo angel lol

I had a friend who returned his thinking his phone was too big - in reality, it was just the bad instructions that came with the gimbal. I hope that you are making some awesome movies now.

@@ronpierson8198 I think mine is broke. The wheel at 3:00 isnt able to move just turns a few millimeters. Its open so I can adjust it but it doesent close. Do you know an awnser?

The knobs are not the best, I had the same issue but with both knobs until somehow I was able to fix them, I had to apply force but did not use any tools. Vert important to have the knobs locked, because if they are not locked the Gimbal starts vibrating and making a weird noise.

Thanks for making this video, I got my Osmo Mobile 2 last week and when I opened it this week to set it up I had a lot of trouble trying to get it balanced. I looked at a bunch of KZbin videos and none of what they said to do seemed to work, your video was the only one that actually helped a bit the so called "instructions" which are pretty much useless didn't even mention moving/adjusting the clamps. I finally got it balanced today at last, DJI should make a new set of instructions for this that actually explain stuff properly. Thanks again for the video, much appreciated.

Out of five or six tutorials regarding balancing the phone, yours was the best (and the instructions that came with the unit were utterly useless). You were so clear that there were two axes to deal with and that large knob (that makes it so that the thing can be turned to portrait orientation) is NOT relevant here, and the other knob is for sliding that arm further out in order to balance the horizontal axis. All of the tutors (including you) have the huge phones, so balancing for you meant unscrewing that arm and moving the whole affair a bit "out" in order to balance. But for me, I am using an iPhone SE, which is small, so pulling that arm out only made it worse, yet there was no way to push the arm in the other way, it's already as far to the left that it an go. I finally realized that the phone doesn't HAVE to installed up against that padded wall, than in order to balance in that axis, for me, the phone has to be moved away from that wall. And you showed, that those "holding grabbers" are independent and one can move the phone more "up" or or more "down" within those "grabbers". So, the secret for those using a smaller phone is that BOTH adjustment are done within the two holding grabbers, adjusted to balance left to right and adjust to balance up and down, all within the holding unit; nothing to screw at all for the SE.

Just got the osmo mobil 2 and watched you video several times on balancing but I am still having problems balancing. Any additional advise. I have an IPhone 10 max with protective cover (doesn't seem to work) so I swith tp IPhone six plus but still not there.

Just got my first one last night. It's taken me a while to balance it. My question is do I have to balance it every time I use it? It seems like I do, unless I'm just moving those tension clamps too much while removing the phone. Another question is does this work with a case, nothing huge and bulky just a spine clear plastic shell. Nervous about scratching my new XS max.

Man have the same problem wit my S7. The lil knob on the back arm keeps showing on the screen of the phone. I had it balanced right the 1st time I used it with my phone case on the phone. Then i took the case off and now I have that problem. I've just been zooming in just a lil and it disappears.

I am having trouble in balancing I have a galaxy android 8Plus is it too heavy??/ it swings down , i am so frustrated it.

I don't think it is too big. I just got the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I was able to balance it. You may need to take the phone out of the case before you put in into the gimbal. Getting the right balance will take time the first couple of times, but once you get the hang of it, you will be able to balance it in seconds. Remember, make small adjustments each time. Good Luck!
