Very helpful. Please read. I had been having PVC's for a few weeks, but didn't know what they were. I was under some pretty aggressive stress in life and drank a lot of coffee at the time. My wife finally took me to the ER when I almost fainted in the kitchen one morning. I was in the hospital for 2 days while they ran tests, including that damn treadmill. Happy to say that we've downsized life. We moved, I quit that job and calmed things w-a-y down. Also switched to decaf. :-( Anyway, thank you very much for putting this together. I'm no doctor, but I try really hard to find education for things that go wrong. This was the best one for PVC's that I've found.

@@rooksilva21 Very true. Not to scare you or anything, but I had the opportunity to actually watch them happen on an ultrasound. The heart actually stops - like as in - a full stop, then a moment or two later, the great 'reset' happens and we begin going again. It's really something to see. never in a million years did I ever think that I would be able to see my heart stop, while I'm still alive.
@murgero1
@murgero1 2 жыл бұрын
@@rooksilva21 Oh, and to add another thing - people can have hundreds to thousands of these per day. I'm still in the high 80's. So, to think about it, my heart actually stops for a brief moment just about a hundred times a day. Even while sleeping.

This was an excellent video explaining PVCs and their causes and identifying factors. I am a monitor tech so you have given me great language to help explain to others what I see on their rhythm strips. I also had a history of PRVT (premature right ventricular tachycardia) that I had an ablation for in December. Usually it was just smallish episodes of a few seconds of VT but this one lasted 8 long agonizing hours! I finally converted myself, with the help of 4 cardiac IV drugs, and no longer have to take meds to stabilize my arrhythmia.

This does a good job explaining why some of my PVC's really jolt my chest and others I could barely notice and wouldn't have noticed had I not been sensitive to them. So some fire off so close to in sync with the normal heart beat that they don't interrupt it and others kind of backfire back into the atriums and creates that horrible jolt that scares the heck out of you.

Thank you for this very informative video. I think my problem started when I had to go to ER twice and once to my doctor because I would become severely short of breath and all they told me at the ER is that I was not having a heart attack where I was given the old Troponin Assay each time. I was still having severe breathing problem and I finally insisted on a heart scan just to find calcium building on my heart arteries and after that I researched vitamins that would get rid of this build up which turned out to be Cod Liver Oil. So I got another heart scan about a month later and got a clean bill of health from the cardiologist. But because of the doctor's negligence I wonder if this was the reason I started getting these PVCs? Right after I had a touch of the flu, they got worse but they aren't quite as bothersome now. However I have an appointment with a cardiologist March 12.

There's an entire Subreddit discussing PVCs and how most doctors dismiss them and aren't capable of finding clear causes. Most patients feel neglected and ignored and they suffer from these horrible ectopics. Mostly people report that triggers are lack of sleep, too much caffeine, exercise, bending over, standing up, bulky meals, alcohol such as wine, talking loudly, stomach issues, anxiety.

Would surgical intervention ever be appropriate for removing ectopic foci? My ex had a huge scar from open heart surgery, but he only ever described it as PVC...

I am male 56 years old. had heart attack three years ago..underwent angioplasty and a stent is placed in one of my arteries. I am doing good. but was taking 30 ml of brandy everywhere just to keep me warm. Now after completion of three years i went for echo cardio gram and diagnosed with few PVCs. ECG also showes slight missing beats...showed cardiologist..he asked me to do tread mill test which i did fine. So he said to stop even that small amounts of alcohol and come after a year...i feel okay...initially when i stopped alcohol had terrible chest tightness due to withdrawal. but just within a week i am fine. i do walk for 35 minutes at moderate speed in the mornings. and do yoga for 30 minutes in the evening...I have two tablets aspirin and one more callled Prolomet R 25

I've had these since I was 13, now I'm 34 and I go through long periods of having PVCs (7-10 weeks at a time) and they frighten me. Even though I have an insufficiency of aorta and mitral valve, my cardiologist says they're not serious and that 3000 extra beats are nothing compared to, say, 30.000. I have a better days and worse days on which I cannot accept them quite yet, but I don't want betablockers or an ablation. Electrolytes might help, if that's the cause, but I have not been able to figure out yet what makes them stick around for this long and what makes them go away. :(

Quick question! Shouldn't the ectopic focal point @6:10 be drawn at the left ventricle since the "R" is so large (based on what you mentioned earlier)? Am I missing something, or was it just drawn inaccurate to move on with the next lesson? Thanks in advance!

These go away people ! You need to take note of what you are eating! It's the heavy metals in foods that cause an electrolyte imbalance! For me , I narrowed it down, it was seafood such as albacore tuna (mercury) and green bell peppers (pesticides). Once I cut that out I noticed a drastic decline. There are also foods that help -cilantro (helps remove heavy metals) and 100% coconut juice (electrolytes). And lastly, what I noticed really, really helped was jogging for about 5 min daily on treadmill, set my rhythm back to normal. Try what I just mentioned for about 2-3 weeks and again, take note of what you are consuming. Hope this helps anyone dealing with this!

I've had PVCs for decades but only recently they have become painful. At the moment of the skipped beat it feels like a pinch or something. Most of the day when I'm not feeling the PVCs I feel totally fine. And I even get some PVCs that are not painful, but some definitely do cause pain. What could be causing the pain?
