@@benwatson5236 Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto, Edmond Dantes from Fate/Grand Order and Season 1 Prince Zuko from Avatar TLA are the three S tier Edgelords that come to mind for me, personally. I don't watch Bojack so I don't really know if he qualifies or not but from what I've heard of the show Bojack sounds way too legitimately depressed to be an archetypical Edgelord since that kind of character is played moreso for drama whereas Bojack seems to be a more uncomfortably realistic take on cynicism than what Edgelords tend to represent. Like I said though, I'm not personally acquainted with the character so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Usually for himbos I would say intelligence wise: - Himbos don't tend to understand more subtle or implied aspects of social interactions like sarcasm, deceit, euphemisms, or romantic feelings. A bookworm character can also have this but it tends to be more for lack of experience or that they are too logical to fully grasp them. - Himbos struggle immensly in to trick or lie to people because they are honest to a fault. Conversely Himbos tend to be easily tricked and can have a loose grasp on what's real and fictional. - Can be quick thinking in dire situations or when the moment present itself but it tends to be more physical rather than them coming up with a complex tactic or strategy. Usually if they have a plan it's strange and needlessly complex. - Usually can have specialized skills or be an expert in something but it tends to be goofy and unorthodox and usually played more for laughs that the character is actually an expert in something. Usually they struggle with simple tasks like reading, writing, facial and voice recognition, clothing themselves, etc.

I think of it in D&D terms where a typical himbo could potentially be very high in Intelligence, but low in Wisdom, meaning they don't read people's intentions as easy, can be more easily convinced of things, and can be naive or inexperienced. Someone with a high intelligence can be very skilled and knowledgeable about things, but you need a high wisdom score to combat other people's charisma, and that's what himbos lack. Hence, like, Scorpia taking so long to get over her feelings for Catra despite Catra not treating her particularly well, because she fails to read Catra's intentions correctly.

I'd even take it a step farther than that: a Himbo can be skilled (or at least competent) in as many things as you like, as long as "being smart" or some variation thereupon isn't one of them. To put it in D&D terms, they need STR 16+ and WIS as their dump stat, not INT (although really that shouldn't be above 12 or so either). Not necessarily stupid per se, but dumb - shortsighted, airheaded, easily distracted, prone to misinterpreting things, and so on.

I’m still iffy about him being a himbo at the start of the original. He comes out of the box with the memories of the character of Buzz Lightyear, so while it admittedly does take him a while to fully accept he’s a toy and all his memories aren’t his, it’s understandable. On Himbo body form: IMO it's less about the form, and more about capability. A Himbo needs to be able to accomplish the physical tasks he is directed to. From lifting mountains to opening jars. Which is relative to his place in the story and those relying on him. Thus "beef" is relative. I would argue this can include mechanical assistance, such as a pickup truck, forklift, etc. As long as their operation of the aid is more instinctual than cerebral. They can use it, but asking them to explain or use it novel ways just gets "???" .

Streaming Red's character arc is really neat, I love watching the character development. Originally, she'd make fun of Blue for messing up the stream, but, in her hubris, she never realized how difficult it was. With the foot on the other shoe, she's now realized that she, as with all other Greek heroes, has too much hubris. Hopefully she will be able to overcome it, and not pull a Heracles. Although, as far as I'm aware, she doesn't have a dangerously naive and insecure wife who's name is literally just "Red-Destroyer," nor has she killed a hydra recently. She better get cracking though, the long list of impossible and bizarre tasks given to her by some random Greek king won't finish themselves!

Here’s a question: Can a Himbo exist in a grounded, realistic tragedy? Cuz I have a hot take. John Coffey from Green Mile is a Himbo. He’s beefy, Michael Clark Duncan (RIP) was one of the biggest actors out there. He’s unequivocally, canonically, supernaturally pure of heart. Dumb… he’s uneducated. He was a black man in the 1930s American South. He may well have been intelligent and never got to develop it, but in the movie he’s a very simple soul. So, can you be a Himbo in a tragedy?

The thing with Yamcha and the whole cheating thing, in the original anime and Manga the only claim of this was from Future Trunks when he was first talking to Goku after he killed Frieza and Cold, but that was it. If you watched the series before this scene it makes absolutely no sense. Nothing is ever hinted that he ever cheated on Bulma ever. In fact throughout the original series and Z pre-cell arc, Bulma was constantly ogling at various men (even when she was still with Yamcha mind you) and was willing to trade Yamcha in for them, including General Blue a villain in the red ribbon army. And when she was ever mad at Yamcha it's just her overreacting to something or jumping into conclusions refusing to listen to anyone's argument including Yamcha’s. In story it could just be assumed Bulma just overreacted again when she sees Yamcha with a random woman and assumes he was cheating on her when he was not. And she passed down her interpretation of events to her son. And we only ever her about hers side of the story, we never ever hear Yamcha’s side of the story if anything Bulma says is even true or not. And out of universe, it was just plain retcon character assassination. Since Toriyama wanted her and Vegeta to get together, but if he just made Bulma fall in love and swing over with the man that indirectly had her boyfriend killed would make her look like an awful person, so to keep her look more sympathetic, Toriyama made Yamcha look worse by making him into a cheater allowing him to justify Bulma and Vegeta more. So yeah, Yamcha is not a cheater, Bulma is just a terrible person.

Like others have said, himbos can be incredibly skilled, especially in traditionally feminine or unorthodox skills that can be played for laughs. The main flaw of Kronk is that he’s both trusting to a fault, and comfortable being a follower. He always assumes everyone he knows is as good natured as him, which leads him to be easily manipulated. But when that manipulation comes in conflict with his morals, he chooses to be selfless every time, even if it negatively affects him.

I think it's relative beefiness to the rest of the cast. Like if every character can't even open a jar, but then one character can, that character counts as "beefy." But if everyone can bench-press a mountain, that doesn't inherently make them beefy. Same goes for appearance. Some animation styles just have every male character shaped like a triangle, regardless of actual strength.

This was so much fun to watch! Some of my personal favorite himbos not on the list are: 1: Ken (Life in the Dreamhouse) this man is the kindest most supportive boyfriend, who is very skilled with technology, while also being dumb enough to install an evil button on Barbie’s closet, and get beaten by a literal 6 year old in poker. Easy S tier IMO 2: Adolin Kholin (The Stormlight archive) Okay, so I know he isn’t “Stupid” by any means, but he’s definitely less witty than the characters he’s around, and his solutions to problems are often straightforward like, “Just stab the bad guy with a big sword!” Kindness levels? Off the charts. He makes friends with everyone and is an amazing friend, husband, and brother. (That sounds like a gravestone dang it) He’s very strong also, that’s not even a question. I won’t keep rambling about Adolin, because I could do that all night, (he might be my favorite character *cough*) and I also don’t want to spoil anything in the series. I’d rate him as an A tier Himbo probably. 3: David (from the webtoon Space Boy) This isn’t as well known of a character/comic, but I’m very active in the Space Boy fandom so I had to mention a character from it. David is one of the main 5 characters, and he’s just a great guy. He’s the nice jock, which we always need more of in media. He’s very strong and always willing to help people, and he’s just generally doing his best. I disagree about Adolin for a couple reasons. 1) He was not really drinking that respect women juice until a little ways into the books. 2) I think his blunt solutions are more out of ignorance or lack of interest than lack of intelligence. When it comes to dueling he's a certifiable genius and he defaults to that because he knows he can win. 3) I think he's a little too aggressive to be a traditional himbo. He's all about fighting at first and he was not shy about his views on how to deal with the 'Sadeas problem'. I'd personally say D if anything, but I do agree he's an amazing character.

@@sinvector8020 yup yup. I really like repeptive funny shows that I can watch in the background but I can't because of the writing. It's funny for the time I guess (I wouldn't know, I wasn't born until after the 90s) but there's just soany jokes based on the fact that Ross's ex gay, I just couldn't keep going. It's not bad, and I'm not saying the shows terrible because eofbthose jokes, but even at the mention of her makes the laugh track go off. Like come on man. Because people talk different know and things are so much more normalized, at least for me, it just makes me roll my eyes. Well, that and very other joke regarding querr people. You don't see those people the way the characters do so it's different. Ross is one of theain character yet I don't give a shit about him. I really did care quite a bit about his ex and her new girlfriend but the only screentime was devoted to shitty jokes. It's lover, not girlfriend. Just saying that kind of demeans it as something less than a straight relationship. I don't know why I don't like it, but people who say lover usually are a lot older.

He did become 3x immortal, though, and dropping a mountain on him was the _only_ way they could keep him from causing trouble at that point, so I'd say his seemingly stupid behavior worked out. Plus, that's only the first 5-7 out of 100 chapters; as soon as the rest of the main cast appears he starts hoarding the group's collective braincell.

I don’t think Adora is really dumb enough to be a true himbo. She has moments of really good insight and a pathological need to fix others problems, which is something she’s actively trying to overcome (contrast to Scorpia’s attitude towards others never really changing, she just values herself more after leaving Catra). Sure, she’s oblivious to Catra’s feelings for her, but Catra was to her feelings as well. I think she’d be a C tier.

It’s mentioned around Hercules (52-ish minutes in) that character arcs and protagonist status somewhat geld against himbo status (though that’s still even including him on the list, as well as Trevor Belmont, so…) It’s further repeatedly stated that while a character isn’t “dumb,” they still count, so that’s hardly a detractor for Adora.

IMO, Indus Tarbella from Epithet Erased is the perfect himbo. He’s dumb, strong, super nice, respectful to women, the works. Plus, he’s super enthusiastic, and he loves dinosaurs. He’s S-Tier, or maybe A-Tier, if you wanna be really harsh.

If people want a Campaign two Critical Roll hinbo its between Yasha and Cadusus. Yasha might be awkward and a bit self loathing but she will give pets and scitches to any animal not trying to kill her. Cad might be a bit lanky but he is there personality wise.

Yasha lacks the unrelenting positivity and Caduceus lacks the strenght, but all their other qualities are very much himbo material. Also Fjord would be a good candidate, though as for Yasha it's less that he is dumb (because he's actually pretty smart) but more that he is unwise.

I'm so glad you brought up Hercules. For me, he is like Kronk, such a quintessential Himbo. I don't think his Protagonist position hinders him at all. He's over 6ft tall, super strong and always gets along (except for the one time him and Phil fight, but it's about a lady's honor and lacks all logic except blind loyalty so like...typical Himbo Loyalty 😂) I would argue he's at least B tier. He's not all static upstairs and he's not a default hero, but otherwise he's pretty quintessential himbo.
