While some airlines may allow this pack as a carry-on, it is not recommended for this purpose as the 27" height falls outside of most carry-on dimensions restrictions.

Do you think the 44 is too large for day hiking? You know, a few litres of water, a few layers, food, snacks, first aid, cameras . . .

I would say 44L is a bit much for a daypack, but it depends what you are carrying of course.

Yes, it is. I use a 45 liter backpack for 1-2 nights (tent included). For day hikes, 30 liters is more than enough.

Hi Alejandra, That hole is a drain there to release water from the suspension system, which could otherwise fill up if you were caught in a storm.

Thanks for your question. The Talon Packs do not come standard with a rain cover, but you can pick up the Osprey Ultralight rain cover separately for some added protection for rain.
